What should I wear to an outdoor graffiti workshop?

For our outdoor parties in Funchal, we recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on. While we provide high-quality protective overalls, shoe covers, and gloves, accidents can happen when you're caught in the creative flow! It's best to leave your favourite designer gear at home and opt for something practical so you can focus entirely on your masterpiece.

Do I need to be artistic or have spray-painting experience?

No prior experience is needed at all! Our professional graffiti artists are experts at teaching absolute beginners. We'll guide you through everything from basic can control and line work to advanced shading and 'wildstyle' techniques. Most of our guests have never held a spray can before, and they are always amazed at the incredible artwork they manage to create by the end of the session.

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor event?

Funchal's weather is usually gorgeous, but we always have a plan B! If light rain is forecast, we often use covered outdoor spots or sturdy gazebos to keep you dry. If the weather is truly tropical and unsuitable for being outside, we can reschedule the session or move it to an indoor location. We have backup artists available too, so your event is always in safe hands!

How long does a typical graffiti party last?

Our outdoor parties usually last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us plenty of time for a safety briefing, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the final creation of your group or individual murals. We find this is the perfect 'sweet spot' to keep the energy high and the creativity flowing without anyone getting tired. Plus, it leaves you plenty of time to enjoy Funchal's nightlife!

Is the spray paint safe to use?

Safety is our number one priority at Graffitifun. We provide all participants with professional-grade FFP2/FFP3 masks to filter out fumes, as well as protective gloves and suits. We only use high-quality spray paint brands designed for street art. Our artists provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a fun, worry-free environment for your entire group in the fresh Madeira air.

Can we create individual artworks or is it one big mural?

Absolutely! While we focus on group fun, we can certainly tailor the session so everyone gets their own space to shine. Depending on the package you choose, you can work together on one massive 'crew' mural or create individual pieces on canvases or boards that you can even take home as a souvenir. Just let us know your preference when you're booking your Funchal street art experience!

Lokal kultur

Funchal isn't just about stunning gardens and wine; it’s a city that breathes creativity. From the famous painted doors of Rua de Santa Maria in the Zona Velha to the hidden murals tucked away in the hills, street art is woven into the city's fabric. Our outdoor workshops take inspiration from this local 'Arte de Portas Abertas' spirit, allowing you to contribute to the island's artistic vibe.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Funchal's "Open Doors Art" project transformed a once-dilapidated street into one of the most photographed outdoor galleries in Europe? We bring that same transformative energy to your party! 🎨

Whether we're setting up near the breezy seafront or in a vibrant urban spot, you'll feel the unique Atlantic energy that makes Funchal the perfect backdrop for an outdoor street art session.
