Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits to all students. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially designated indoor spaces. Our professional artists are fully trained in health and safety protocols and provide a thorough safety briefing before anyone touches a spray can, ensuring a worry-free creative environment for Glasgow secondary schools.

Where in Glasgow do the workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible and can come to your school premises anywhere in Glasgow or the surrounding areas. If you'd prefer to get out of the classroom, we can also arrange sessions at one of Glasgow's legal street art walls or a dedicated studio space. We handle all the logistics, so whether it's the school playground or a local park, we make it work for your group.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard secondary school workshop typically lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. This allows enough time for an introduction to graffiti history, safety training, sketching, and the final painting session. However, we can easily adapt the timing to fit your specific school timetable or double-period slots. Just let us know your schedule, and we will tailor the experience to match!

Do the students need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to budding young artists. Our expert instructors guide students through every step, from basic line work to advanced shading techniques. By the end of the session, even students who didn't think they were 'artistic' will be amazed at the professional-looking masterpiece they have helped create. It's all about fun and expression!

What materials are included in the workshop package?

We provide everything needed for a successful street art session! This includes a wide range of professional spray cans in various colours, different types of nozzles (caps), safety gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the 'canvas' itself—whether that's large wooden boards, cling-film walls, or a permanent school mural. Students only need to bring their enthusiasm and wear old clothes just in case!

What is the maximum group size you can accommodate?

We have no strict minimum, but our workshops are most cost-effective for groups of 10 or more. For larger schools, we can accommodate groups of up to 100+ students by bringing in a team of professional artists to manage different stations. We ensure a high artist-to-student ratio so that every participant receives personal guidance and stays engaged throughout the entire creative process.

How does a graffiti workshop benefit the students' education?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for exploring themes like identity, community, typography, and colour theory. It aligns perfectly with the Curriculum for Excellence, particularly within Expressive Arts. Many Glasgow schools use our workshops to brighten up dull playground walls or to reward students for great attendance and hard work. It’s a brilliant way to boost confidence and team-building skills while creating something visually stunning.

Trin for trin

Intro & inspiration: We start with a high-energy look at the history of street art and how it evolved into the global phenomenon it is today.
Safety first: Every student gets kitted out in professional protective gear. We explain how to use the equipment safely and responsibly.
Mastering the can: Our artists demonstrate essential techniques, from 'fat caps' for filling to 'skinny caps' for crisp outlines and detail.
Sketching the vision: Students grab paper and markers to draft their designs, focusing on letter structure and personal style.
Practice run: Before hitting the final wall, students practice their flow and pressure control on a trial surface to build confidence.
Creating the masterpiece: The main event! Students work on their individual pieces or contribute to a massive collaborative school mural.
Adding the details: We teach techniques for highlights, shadows, and 'cuts' to make the artwork really pop off the surface.
The big reveal: We finish with a group photo session and a critique where students can show off their hard work to their peers.

Lokal kultur

Glasgow is a city that breathes art, from the stunning Victorian architecture to the world-famous City Centre Mural Trail. By bringing a graffiti workshop to your Glasgow secondary school, you're connecting students with a local culture that includes incredible works like Billy Connolly’s portraits and the iconic 'St. Mungo' mural on High Street. We take inspiration from the "Dear Green Place" and its gritty, creative spirit to show students that their city is a living gallery.

🎨 Glasgow Fun Fact: Did you know that Glasgow was the first UK city to be named a UNESCO City of Music? That same rhythmic energy flows through our graffiti, where the flow of the letters is just as important as the beat of a song!
