Where groups meet in Dubrovnik

Our graffiti workshops in Dubrovnik can be tailored to various locations depending on your group's needs and the nature of the event. For private events requiring a dedicated space, we often utilise venues in areas just outside the immediate historic centre, offering easier access and more room for creative expression. Districts like Gruž, with its port activity, or Lapad, known for its hotels and beaches, provide a good balance of accessibility and space.

For groups based further afield, perhaps staying in areas such as Cavtat or Mlini, we can discuss suitable arrangements for workshop locations that minimise travel time. Our aim is to find a convenient and inspiring spot that allows your group to focus entirely on the art.

Enhancing your group's Dubrovnik experience

A graffiti workshop in Dubrovnik offers a dynamic addition to various group itineraries. For corporate teams, it serves as an excellent team-building exercise, fostering collaboration and creative problem-solving away from the usual office environment. Schools can integrate it into art or cultural studies programmes, providing a hands-on experience of contemporary art forms. Families and friend groups will find it a fun and unique way to create lasting memories together, producing a shared artwork.

After your creative session, Dubrovnik offers a wealth of options for further activities. Many groups choose to explore the Old Town, walk the city walls, or take a cable car up Mount Srđ for panoramic views. For refreshments, there are numerous restaurants and cafes in the Old Town or along the Lapad promenade, offering local Dalmatian cuisine or international dishes, perfect for debriefing and enjoying the city's atmosphere.

  1. The warm up: Meet your pro-artist instructor and get a quick intro to the fascinating history of street art and the 'rules of the road'.
  2. Gear up: Slip into your protective suit, mask, and gloves. Safety first, but looking like a professional street artist is a nice bonus! 🎨
  3. First spray: Learn the basics of can control—how far to hold the can, how to change pressure, and how to swap 'caps' for different line widths.
  4. Sketching your style: Grab some chalk or a marker and map out your design on the wall or canvas. Our artists will help you refine your ideas.
  5. Filling in: Start adding colour! This is where you learn to blend layers and make your graffiti pop with vibrant Adriatic-inspired hues.
  6. The outline: Master the 'power line'—the final outline that gives your graffiti its professional, crisp finish.
  7. Final touches: Add shines, shadows, and 'bubbles' to make your artwork three-dimensional and truly unique.
  8. The reveal: Snap some epic photos of your creation against the Dubrovnik sun to show off your new skills to the world! 📸

Arriving for your Dubrovnik workshop

Dubrovnik is well connected for visitors arriving by various means. The city does not have a main railway station, as it is not served by a rail network. Most visitors arrive by air or road. Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is the primary international gateway, located approximately 20 kilometres south of the city. From the airport, regular shuttle buses and taxis provide convenient transfers into the city centre or to specific hotel areas.

If travelling by car, Dubrovnik is accessible via the D8 coastal road. Parking within the old city walls is extremely limited and often restricted, so we advise groups to utilise paid parking facilities located just outside the pedestrianised zones, or to consider public transport. The city's local bus network, Libertas Dubrovnik, serves all main districts, offering an efficient way to navigate the city. Coaches also have designated drop-off and pick-up points, typically near the Pile Gate or Ploče Gate.

Street art in Dubrovnik: the local view

While Dubrovnik is primarily celebrated for its UNESCO World Heritage Old Town and stunning historical architecture, the presence of contemporary street art is more subtle. You won't find extensive legal graffiti walls or dedicated street art districts as you might in larger metropolitan areas. However, like many cities, there are occasional instances of public art and murals that pop up, reflecting local narratives or artistic expressions in less prominent locations.

The city's strong artistic heritage is more traditionally expressed through painting, sculpture, and performance arts within galleries and cultural institutions. Our workshops provide a unique opportunity to introduce the vibrant world of street art into this historic context, allowing participants to explore a different facet of artistic creation within Dubrovnik's inspiring environment.
