Do I need any previous art experience to join?

Absolutely! Most of our pop-up event participants in Funchal have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists break down the process into easy, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to filling and shading. By the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've created. It's all about having fun and being creative in a relaxed, supportive environment.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need for the ultimate graffiti experience. This includes premium spray paint in a huge variety of colours, high-quality caps for different line widths, protective overalls, gloves, and masks. We also provide the canvas or surface you'll be painting on. Just bring your enthusiasm and wear clothes you don't mind getting a tiny bit of dust on, just in case!

Is the graffiti workshop safe?

Safety is our top priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality FFP2 masks and gloves to all participants. Our pop-up events in Funchal are typically held in well-ventilated or outdoor spaces to ensure maximum airflow. Our instructors also give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone starts spraying, ensuring that everyone knows how to use the equipment responsibly and safely throughout the session.

How long does a pop-up event session last?

The duration can vary depending on your group's needs, but our standard pop-up workshops usually last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us plenty of time for a demonstration, some practice rounds, and finally, the creation of your main artwork. We find this timeframe is perfect for keeping the energy high without anyone getting 'aerosol fatigue'. We can also adapt the timing for specific festival schedules.

Where exactly in Funchal do these events take place?

Pop-up events are incredibly flexible! We can host them at a variety of locations across Funchal, from beachfront promenades to urban plazas or private event spaces. If you have a specific venue in mind for your brand activation or festival, we can usually make it work. We just need a flat surface and a bit of space for our mobile graffiti walls. Contact us to discuss your ideal Madeira location.

Do I need to pay in advance?

We believe in a stress-free booking process. You don't have to pay anything upfront when you book your Funchal workshop. We trust our clients and want to ensure you are 100% happy with the plan. Payment is typically handled after the event or via invoice. This flexibility makes us a favourite for event organisers and local businesses looking for a reliable, professional creative partner.

Can I take my artwork home with me?

If you are taking part in a workshop where you paint on individual canvases, you can definitely take your artwork home! It’s a fantastic souvenir of your time in Funchal. For larger collaborative murals created at festivals, the final piece often stays with the event organiser or is displayed locally. We also offer digital photos of the session so you can share your street art skills on social media immediately.

Helyi kultúra

Funchal isn't just about botanical gardens and stunning views; it's a city that breathes art. If you've walked through the Zona Velha (Old Town), you've seen the incredible Arte de Portas Abertas project, where local artists transformed old doors into stunning works of street art. Our workshops tap into this local spirit of urban renewal and creative expression.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Funchal’s 'Painted Doors' project started back in 2011 to revitalise the old town? It turned a quiet area into one of the most photographed streets in Portugal! Our pop-up events carry on this tradition of bringing art to the people, right here in Madeira.
