Is the graffiti workshop safe for children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. Our workshops take place in well-ventilated outdoor areas or dedicated legal spaces. Furthermore, our professional instructors are trained to supervise children and teenagers, ensuring they use the spray cans correctly and follow all safety protocols while having a blast.

Do the kids need any previous art experience?

Not at all! Our after-school programmes are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners to budding young artists. Our instructors start with the basics, teaching how to hold a spray can and control the pressure. We guide the students through every step of the process, so everyone ends up with a piece of art they can be proud of, regardless of their prior experience.

What should the participants wear?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and old shoes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on. While we provide protective overalls and gloves, graffiti is a hands-on, creative process and a stray splash of paint is always a possibility when you're having this much fun! It's all part of the authentic street art experience.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard after-school session typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of graffiti, practice basic techniques, and complete a final collaborative or individual masterpiece. We can also adjust the duration to fit into your specific school schedule or extracurricular timetable if needed. Just let us know your requirements!

What materials are included in the workshop?

We bring everything needed for a world-class street art experience! This includes a wide variety of professional spray paint colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the surfaces to paint on. We can set up mobile wooden walls or use large canvases. You just need to provide the space and the enthusiastic students!

What is the maximum group size for a Lyon workshop?

We are very flexible! While we often work with groups of 10 to 25 students to ensure everyone gets personal attention from our artists, we can accommodate larger groups by bringing in additional professional instructors from our backup team. This ensures that the quality of teaching remains high and everyone stays safe and engaged throughout the entire creative process.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day?

In the rare event of typical Lyonnaise rain, we have several options. If we are working on mobile boards, we can often move the session under a covered outdoor area or into a well-ventilated indoor space like a gym or hall. Because we have a large team and flexible setups, we always strive to ensure the workshop goes ahead safely and comfortably.

Krok za krokom

Intro and inspiration: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of graffiti and its vibrant presence in Lyon’s street art scene.
Safety first: Every student gets kitted out in protective gear, including masks and gloves, while we explain the "rules of the wall."
Sketching the vision: Before touching a can, we grab markers and paper to brainstorm ideas and sketch out the day's tags and characters.
Can control basics: Our pros demonstrate how to hold the can, swap caps, and manage pressure to create thin lines and fat fills.
Practice run: Students get their first taste of spray painting by practicing basic shapes and "fills" on a practice surface.
The main event: It’s time to move to the main wall or canvas! Students work together or individually to bring their sketches to life in full colour.
Adding the details: We teach the "outline" and "highlight" techniques that make a piece pop and look professionally finished.
The big reveal: We step back to admire the collective masterpiece, take group photos, and celebrate the creative journey.
Cleanup: We ensure the site is left tidy and students are de-geared, leaving only the awesome artwork behind!

Miestna kultúra

Lyon is a city that breathes art, from the historic murals of Croix-Rousse to the hidden gems in the 7th arrondissement. Our workshops draw inspiration from the city's unique "Mur des Canuts" and the thriving local street art festivals that turn the city into an open-air gallery. We don't just teach graffiti; we connect students to the visual heartbeat of Lyon.

Fun fact: Did you know Lyon is famous for its "trompe-l'œil" murals? Some of the world's largest and most realistic wall paintings are right here, making it the perfect backdrop for inspiring the next generation of Lyon street artists! 🦁
