Do I need any prior art experience to join?

Absolutely! Most of our pop-up participants have never touched a spray can before. Our Cologne-based artists are experts at breaking down the basics, from how to hold the can to mastering different nozzles. We focus on a relaxed, fun environment where you can learn at your own pace. By the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've created!

What should I wear to a graffiti pop-up?

We’ve got you covered. We provide high-quality coveralls, gloves, and masks to keep your clothes and lungs protected. However, graffiti can be a bit messy, so we still recommend wearing comfortable 'outdoor' clothes and shoes that you wouldn't mind getting a tiny speck of paint on. Safety and comfort are our top priorities while you're getting creative!

How long does the workshop last?

Our standard Cologne pop-up sessions usually run between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a safety briefing, a crash course in techniques, sketching your design, and the final painting process. We find this timing is perfect to keep the energy high and ensure everyone finishes their piece without feeling rushed or exhausted.

Is the spray paint safe to use?

We use high-quality spray paint, but we are mindful of the environment and your health. For our pop-up events, we prioritize low-odour and water-based paints where possible, especially if we are in semi-enclosed spaces. Regardless of the paint type, we always provide professional-grade FFP2 or FFP3 masks to ensure everyone breathes easy while they work.

Is this activity suitable for children?

Yes, it is! While our pop-up events are generally geared towards adults and teens, children aged 8 and up can join in the fun. It’s a fantastic way for families in Cologne to do something out of the ordinary together. We provide smaller gloves and extra supervision for the younger artists to make sure they have a blast safely.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Rain won't stop the art! If we're hosting an outdoor pop-up in Cologne, we usually have a backup indoor location or heavy-duty gazebos ready to go. If the weather is really extreme, our backup artist system ensures we can reschedule quickly. We always communicate with you ahead of time so you know exactly where to meet us.

Can I take my graffiti artwork home with me?

One of the best things about our pop-ups is that you get to take your art home! You'll be painting on high-quality canvases or boards that are easy to carry. Once the paint is dry (which happens fast), you can find a spot for it on your wall as a permanent souvenir of your Cologne street art experience.

Miestna kultúra

Cologne isn't just about ancient cathedrals and Roman history; it’s a living, breathing canvas. From the colourful murals of Ehrenfeld to the hidden gems in the Belgian Quarter, the 'Kölner' street art scene is world-class. Our pop-up events tap into this local spirit, often taking place in the city's coolest urban spaces where the atmosphere is as electric as the paint we use.

Fun fact: Cologne is home to the "City Leaks" Urban Art Festival, which has helped transform the city into one of Germany's premier destinations for street art lovers! 🏆
