Is the graffiti workshop safe for school-aged children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, disposable gloves, and protective suits for every student. Our professional artists are trained to supervise groups and ensure the spray cans are used responsibly. We use low-odour paints where possible and always recommend outdoor areas or well-ventilated spaces for the best experience. Your students are in very safe hands.

Do we come to you, or do you come to our school?

We are incredibly flexible! We can bring the entire workshop to your school grounds in Pécs if you have a suitable outdoor wall or open space. Alternatively, we can arrange for the session to take place at a local legal graffiti zone or an inspiring urban spot in the city. Just let us know your preference, and we will handle the logistical heavy lifting to make it happen.

What is the minimum age for students to participate?

While we love working with teenagers and secondary school students, our workshops can be adapted for children as young as 8 or 9 years old. We adjust our teaching style and the complexity of the techniques based on the age group. For younger primary students, we focus more on colour blending and simple shapes, while older students can dive deep into complex lettering and shading.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

Our standard educational workshops usually last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This provides enough time for a brief history lesson, a safety demonstration, technique practice, and the final creation of a large-scale mural or individual canvases. If you have a specific school timetable to stick to, we can definitely trim or extend the session to fit your schedule perfectly.

What kind of art will the students actually create?

Anything! Many schools choose a theme related to their curriculum—like 'eco-friendly living', 'local Pécs history', or 'unity and diversity'. Alternatively, students can collaborate on a massive 'Class of 2024' mural or focus on developing their own personal 'tag' or nickname. It’s all about giving them a voice and seeing their collective vision come to life in vibrant spray paint.

What are your booking and payment terms for educational institutions?

We understand that school budgets and plans can change. That is why we offer a 'no upfront payment' policy. You can book your workshop date today to secure our artists, and the payment is only settled after the workshop has been successfully completed. We also have backup artists on standby, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation on our end.

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your school in Pécs? It’s not just a fun afternoon; it’s an educational experience that bridges the gap between 'vandalism' and 'fine art'. Here are just a few reasons to get us involved:

Boosts creative confidence: Even students who think they "can't draw" find success with the bold, forgiving nature of spray paint. 🚀
Promotes teamwork: Large murals require students to communicate, plan, and execute a single vision together.
Cultural education: We dive into the history and social impact of street art, providing a modern context to art history.
Inclusive activity: Graffiti is a great leveller; it appeals to students across all backgrounds and skill levels.
Professional mentors: Our artists are not just painters; they are passionate mentors who love sharing their craft with the next generation. 🎤
Stress-free for teachers: We bring everything and handle all the setup and cleanup. You just provide the students!

Step by step

Introduction and history: We kick things off with a brief, high-energy talk about the roots of street art and its evolution from New York subways to the galleries of Europe.
Safety first: Every student gets geared up with protective suits, gloves, and professional masks while we explain the 'golden rules' of using spray cans safely.
The 'Tag' creator: Students start by sketching their ideas on paper, learning how to structure letters and create a flow for their chosen nickname or word.
Can control basics: Our artists demonstrate different nozzle types (caps) and show the kids how to control pressure, distance, and speed to get clean lines.
Sketching the mural: We move to the main surface—either a wall or large canvases—where the students outline the skeleton of their collaborative masterpiece.
Filling and fading: This is where the magic happens! We teach the students how to fill in large areas and create smooth colour gradients (fades) for a 3D effect.
The outline and highlights: Students add the crucial 'final' outlines to make the piece pop, along with highlights and 'force fields' (outer glows).
The big reveal: We take a step back as a group to admire the finished work, followed by a professional photo session with the artists and their creation.
Clean up and wrap up: We handle all the disposal of cans and materials, leaving the school grounds exactly as we found them—just a lot more colourful!

Local culture

Pécs is a city that breathes culture, from its Roman roots to being a former European Capital of Culture. While the city is famous for its Zsolnay ceramics, there is a pulse of modern, urban energy flowing through its streets. Our workshops tap into this contemporary spirit, giving students a chance to add their own modern chapter to the city's long artistic history. We often take inspiration from the hidden murals found in the city's alleyways near the city centre or the vibrant street life around the University. 🔥

Fun Fact: Did you know that Pécs is home to some of the most unique "legal walls" in southern Hungary? The local scene is small but incredibly passionate, making it the perfect place for students to discover that street art is a respected form of expression when done with permission!
