Do I need to have artistic experience to participate?

Absolutely! Most of our festival participants have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists are expert instructors who guide you through everything from basic nozzle control to advanced layering techniques. We provide a safe, encouraging environment where you can experiment and learn at your own pace. By the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've created!

What should I wear to the graffiti workshop?

We suggest wearing comfortable 'play clothes' and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty or stained. While we provide high-quality protective ponchos and gloves, graffiti can sometimes be a bit messy, especially for enthusiastic beginners! Think of it as a badge of honour. Avoid expensive fabrics or white trainers just to be on the safe side while you're unleashing your inner Banksy.

Is the spray paint safe and are there safety measures?

Safety is our top priority. We use high-quality spray paints and provide all necessary protective gear, including gloves and masks if requested. Our artists are trained to manage groups safely in outdoor festival environments. Because we're in the open air of Funchal, there's always plenty of ventilation, making it a comfortable experience for everyone involved. Kids and adults alike can spray with peace of mind.

How long does the festival workshop experience last?

Our standard festival workshop slots usually last between 1.5 to 2 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of hands-on painting time for you to finish your piece. If you're looking for a more intensive experience or a quick 'taster' session, we can easily adapt the timing to fit your schedule.

How far in advance should I book my spot?

Our street art festival workshops in Funchal are very popular, so we recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially during the peak summer and spring seasons. However, we have a large team of backup artists, so even if you have a last-minute request, give us a shout! We’ll always do our best to squeeze you in for some creative fun.

Is there an age limit for the workshop?

We believe street art is for everyone! Our workshops are great for kids (usually aged 6+), teenagers, and adults. For festival settings, we often set up different zones so children can work on smaller canvases while adults tackle larger walls. It’s a brilliant multi-generational activity that brings families together through the power of colour and creativity. No one is ever 'too old' for graffiti!

Culture locale

Funchal is famous for its 'Art of the Open Doors' (Arte de Portas Abertas) in the Rua de Santa Maria, but we’re taking that spirit to the next level. The city’s unique blend of lush green mountains and deep blue sea provides the perfect backdrop for high-contrast street art. Our workshops celebrate this Atlantic aesthetic, blending traditional Portuguese patterns with modern urban grit. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Funchal's Old Town was transformed from a quiet area into a world-class outdoor gallery specifically to revitalise the community through art? You're participating in a living tradition! ✨

Our workshop prices are designed to be as accessible as the art itself! We offer flexible packages depending on how many people are joining the fun and the scale of the setup you're looking for.

Large Groups/Festival Packages: Up to €45 per person (including premium materials)

Because every festival and event in Funchal is unique, we love to tailor our sessions to your specific needs. Request a custom quote today and let's get the paint flowing! 💰
