How it works

  1. Intro & inspiration: We start with a brief history of Stockholm's street art scene and explain the difference between 'tagging' and 'pieces'.
  2. The safety briefing: Your students get geared up in protective suits and masks. We teach them the golden rules of using spray cans safely.
  3. Learning the lines: Students start with basic exercises—learning how distance and pressure change the thickness of the paint.
  4. Sketching the vision: Before hitting the wall, the kids brainstorm their designs, focusing on lettering, characters, or a specific school theme.
  5. First layers: Time to fill in! We guide them through the 'filling' process, ensuring smooth coverage and vibrant colour choices.
  6. Cutting & outlining: This is where the magic happens. We show them how to add sharp outlines to make their graffiti pop.
  7. Highlights & details: Students add those final professional touches like shines, bubbles, or 3D effects.
  8. The group gallery: We finish with a 'grand reveal' where the class reviews their collective masterpiece and takes photos.
  9. Tidy up: We handle all the cleanup, ensuring cans are recycled and the area is left spotless.

Frequently asked questions

Is the graffiti workshop safe for school students?

The safety of your students is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality protective overalls, gloves, and professional FFP3 respiratory masks to ensure nobody breathes in fumes or gets paint on their clothes. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially equipped indoor spaces. Our artists are also experts at managing group dynamics to keep the environment calm, focused, and completely safe for all participants.

Are these workshops suitable for all ages?

Absolutely! We have different workshop formats tailored to different age groups. For younger primary school children, we focus more on 'street art' techniques and use water-based markers or simplified spray cans. For teenagers, we dive deeper into technical lettering and spray control. We adjust our language and teaching style to match the maturity of the class, ensuring everyone stays engaged and challenged.

Where in Stockholm do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible when it comes to location! We can host the workshop at various legal street art spots across Stockholm, such as the famous walls in Snösätra. Alternatively, if your school has a suitable outdoor space or a very well-ventilated hall, we can bring the workshop to you. We use protective floor coverings to ensure we leave the school grounds exactly as we found them.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

A standard school session typically lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This provides enough time for a solid introduction, safety briefing, practice session, and the creation of the final artwork. However, if you have a specific school schedule to stick to, such as a double period or a full 'creative day' (Skapande skola), we can easily adjust the duration to fit your needs.

What materials do we need to provide?

We provide everything! Your booking includes all premium spray paint, caps, safety gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the surfaces to paint on. We can paint on large plastic foils stretched between trees, wooden panels, or even a permanent wall if you have permission. You just need to make sure the students wear 'mess-friendly' shoes, as we can't fully cover those!

Can we use Skapande skola funding for this?

In Sweden, many of our school workshops qualify for 'Skapande skola' funding. We can help provide the necessary documentation and project descriptions needed for your application. Our workshops align perfectly with curriculum goals regarding visual arts, cultural history, and community building, making them an ideal choice for government-funded cultural projects in schools.

What happens if it rains on the day?

While we love sunshine, Stockholm weather doesn't always play along. If it's just a light drizzle, we can often continue under gazebos or bridges. For heavy rain or extreme cold, we try to move the session to a covered area or reschedule. We always stay in close contact with the school lead in the days leading up to the event to ensure a backup plan is in place.
