Do students need any prior art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Our Sheffield workshops are specifically designed for beginners. Our pro artists guide you through every stage, from the very first line to the final highlights. You don’t need any previous art experience or 'talent'—just a bit of enthusiasm and a willingness to try something new. You'll be amazed at the professional-looking masterpiece you can create in just a couple of hours.

What should students wear to the graffiti workshop?

We’ve got you covered! We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep those clothes clean. However, since we’re working with professional-grade spray paint which is permanent, we always recommend that students wear 'old' clothes and comfortable shoes that they don't mind getting a tiny bit dusty. Better to be safe while you're getting creative!

Is the spray paint safe to use for a large student group?

Safety is our top priority. We use low-odour, high-quality spray cans and provide all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Our artists give a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can. We ensure the venue is well-ventilated or outdoors, and our experienced instructors supervise the session closely to make sure everyone stays safe while having a blast.

How long does a typical university graffiti session last?

The standard university workshop lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for the history of street art, technique practice, and the creation of a full-scale mural or individual canvases. If you have a specific timetable or a shorter 'refreshers' slot to fill, we can easily tailor the duration to fit your event schedule perfectly.

Where in Sheffield do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can host the workshop at various outdoor spots in Sheffield, or we can come directly to your campus if you have a suitable outdoor space or a very well-ventilated hall. We also work with local creative hubs. If you're unsure where to go, just ask—we know the best spots in the Steel City to get sprayin'.

Can we create one big mural as a society or student group?

Yes, it's a brilliant way to leave a legacy! Many Sheffield societies choose to create a collective mural on a large boarding or 'legal wall'. This promotes teamwork and results in a massive, vibrant piece of art that represents your group's identity. Alternatively, students can work on individual canvases if they want something to take home to their student halls.

Sheffield isn't just about steel and hills; it's a legendary canvas for some of the UK's most iconic street art. From the massive murals in the Kelham Island district to the hidden gems around Division Street, the city breathes creativity. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, drawing inspiration from the works of Phlegm and the vibrant community of artists that call the Steel City home.

Fun Fact: Sheffield is home to 'The Snog' mural, one of the most Instagrammed spots in the city! The local scene is so respected that several city-centre buildings are designated legal spaces for incredible large-scale art. 🏙️
