Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the teacher training?

Absolutely not! While we love having artistic souls, this training is designed for educators of all skill levels. We teach you the fundamentals from the ground up—how to hold a can, pressure control, and nozzle types. Our goal is to give you the technical confidence to guide your students through their own creative journey, focusing on process over perfection. By the end of the day, you'll be amazed at what you can create.

Is the spray paint safe for use in a school environment?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide high-quality FFP3 masks, gloves, and protective gear for all participants. During the session, we’ll cover essential safety protocols for the classroom, including proper ventilation, fire safety, and age-appropriate materials. You’ll leave with a comprehensive understanding of how to manage a spray paint session without any risks to your students' health or the school property.

How long does the training session last?

Our standard professional development workshops in Lyon typically last between 2.5 and 4 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of the movement, master technical skills, and complete a collaborative mural. However, we can also offer extended full-day sessions or multi-day intensives if your department wants to dive deeper into curriculum integration or advanced stencil techniques. Just let us know your schedule!

Will I receive any teaching materials or resources to take home?

Yes, every participant receives a digital 'Graffiti Educator’s Toolkit'. This includes lesson plan templates, a glossary of street art terms, safety checklists, and a guide on sourcing budget-friendly, high-quality materials. We want to ensure that the transition from our workshop to your classroom is as seamless as possible, providing you with all the 'cheat sheets' you need to succeed.

How do you handle the topic of 'vandalism' with students?

While we focus on the artistic side, we also dedicate time to discussing the legal and ethical boundaries of street art. We teach you how to educate students on the difference between commissioned murals and illegal tagging. This helps students respect their local Lyon community and understand that street art is a powerful tool for positive expression, not just rebellion.

Can the training be held at my school or a specific venue?

We offer total flexibility for our Lyon-based teachers. We can host you at one of our vibrant local street art partners' spots, or we can bring the entire setup to your school. If we come to you, we use mobile wooden walls and floor protection to ensure no permanent marks are left behind. It’s a great way to see how a workshop would function in your own workspace!

What is the cost and how does payment work?

Pricing is flexible based on your group size, usually ranging from €30 to €65 per person. This covers all materials, protective gear, your professional instructor, and the take-home resources. Because school budgets vary, we always suggest requesting a custom quote. We don't require any upfront payment—you only pay after the workshop is complete and everyone is inspired, ensuring 100% satisfaction for your department.

De ervaring

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your next professional development day? It's about more than just paint; it's about engagement, contemporary culture, and breaking down the "I can't draw" barrier. Here’s why Lyon teachers love it:

Instant Engagement: Graffiti is a hook that grabs even the most disengaged students immediately. 🎨
Professional Skills: Learn from actual street artists who live and breathe the culture. 🔥
Safety First: We take the "scary" out of spray paint with rigorous safety protocols you can replicate. 🛡️
Curriculum Ready: Our training aligns with modern art curriculum goals, focusing on colour theory and social commentary. 📚
Team Building: Nothing brings a faculty together like collaborating on a massive mural! 🤝
No Risk: With our "pay after the workshop" policy, your satisfaction is literally guaranteed. ✨

Stap voor stap

Theory & History: We start with a quick, high-energy dive into the roots of graffiti and how it evolved into the global street art movement.
Gear Mastery: Get hands-on with the tools of the trade. You'll learn about different "caps" (nozzles), pressure settings, and safety equipment.
Lines & Lettering: The basics! Practice vertical lines, dots, and the fundamental structure of graffiti "tags" and "throw-ups."
Can Control: Master the "fade," blending colours, and creates 3D effects that make art pop off the wall.
Teaching Methodology: We switch gears to pedagogy, showing you how to break these steps down for different age groups and abilities.
Classroom Management: Learn the logistics—how to set up a "spray zone," manage paint distribution, and handle the cleanup process.
Collaborative Mural: Put your skills to the test! Work with fellow teachers to create a large-scale piece, experiencing the teamwork you'll soon lead.
Review & Curriculum Prep: We finish with a Q&A on how to align these activities with your specific curriculum goals and assessment rubrics.

Lokale cultuur

Lyon isn't just a culinary capital; it's a living canvas! From the world-famous Mur des Canuts to the hidden gems in the 1st Arrondissement, the city breaths art. Our training taps into this local heritage, showing you how to use Lyon's own street art scene as a primary source for your lessons. We focus on the "Lyon style"—clean, narrative, and deeply integrated into the urban fabric.

Fun Fact: Lyon is home to some of the largest "trompe-l'œil" murals in Europe! This tradition of wall painting makes it the perfect place for teachers to explore the bridge between classical technique and modern graffiti.
