What exactly happens during a graffiti anti-vandalism workshop in Lyon?

Our anti-vandalism workshop in Lyon is an immersive experience where you learn the history, culture, and techniques of graffiti from professional artists. Unlike illegal tagging, we focus on 'legal' walls and canvases, teaching you how to channel your energy into high-quality murals. It’s a hands-on session where you'll go from basic sketches to a full-colour piece, all while learning about the ethics of the street art community.

I have zero artistic talent. Can I still join the workshop?

Absolutely! Most of our participants in Lyon have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists are expert teachers who break down complex techniques into easy-to-follow steps. We provide all the gear and guidance you need to feel confident. By the end of the session, you'll be amazed at the masterpiece you've created, regardless of your previous artistic background or 'stick figure' drawing skills.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for children and teenagers?

Safety is our top priority at Graffitifun. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and disposable overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor areas or specially equipped indoor spaces. We also use professional-grade spray paint with lower pressure, which is much easier and safer for beginners to handle under our expert supervision.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard anti-vandalism experience in Lyon usually lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief introduction to street art culture, a safety briefing, technique practice on practice walls, and then the creation of your final masterpiece. We find this is the 'sweet spot' where you get fully into the creative flow without getting too tired from standing and spraying.

Do I need to pay in advance to book a workshop?

We believe in the quality of our workshops so much that we don't require upfront payments for most bookings. You can book your date and time, and then pay after the workshop is completed. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience before any money changes hands. It’s part of our commitment to making street art accessible and stress-free for everyone in the Lyon area.

How does this program actually help prevent vandalism in Lyon?

Lyon is famous for its 'Traboules' and murals, and while we appreciate the city's beauty, our workshops are strictly about legal expression. We teach the difference between vandalism and street art, focusing on the respect for public property and the importance of using designated spaces. By providing a creative outlet and educating on the 'writer's code,' we actively discourage illegal tagging while promoting genuine artistic talent.

Gear up: Put on your protective suit, gloves, and mask—now you look like a real pro!
Can control: Practice your first lines, dots, and fades on a trial wall to get a feel for the spray pressure.
Sketching the vision: Use chalk or light paint to map out your design on your dedicated canvas or wall space.
Fill-in and flow: Start adding vibrant colours to your piece, learning how to blend and layer like a master.
The outline: Master the 'power line' to make your graffiti pop and give it that sharp, professional edge.
Final touches: Add shines, shadows, and your unique 'tag' to claim your work of art.
Photos and wrap-up: Grab some epic photos of your work and take home your canvas or memories!

Lokal kultur

Lyon is often called the French capital of murals, and for good reason! From the iconic Fresque des Lyonnais to the vibrant walls of the Croix-Rousse district, street art is woven into the city's DNA. Our workshops take inspiration from the silk-weaving history of the city—it’s all about the fine details and the vibrant colours. We often host our sessions near urban hubs where the vibe of the city's creative heart beats loudest.

Fun Fact: Lyon is home to over 150 giant murals! Many of these were created to cover up dull surfaces, proving that when street art is done right, it makes the city a much more beautiful place to live.
