Is it safe for primary school children to use spray paint?

Safety is our absolute number one priority. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for small hands to control and provide high-quality FFP2 masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep those school uniforms clean. Our Lisbon artists are highly experienced in working with primary-aged children, ensuring a supervised, controlled, and totally safe environment where the only thing that runs wild is their imagination!

Where in Lisbon do the workshops take place?

We are totally flexible! We can host the workshop at your school premises in Lisbon—whether that's on a playground wall (with permission!), large wooden boards, or individual canvases. Alternatively, we can arrange a session at one of our vetted local street art spots. We bring all the protective floor coverings and materials, so you don't have to worry about any permanent 'accidental' art on the school buildings.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard primary school workshop usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This timeframe is the 'sweet spot' for keeping younger students engaged without them getting tired. We start with a high-energy intro and demo, move into practice sessions, and finish with their final masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit perfectly into your school's timetable or morning/afternoon blocks.

Do the students need any prior art skills or experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our friendly artists guide the children through every step, from how to hold the can to creating cool 3D effects. It’s all about the 'process over perfection' philosophy. We find that even the kids who claim they 'can't draw' end up creating something they are incredibly proud of by the end of the day.

What materials do we need to provide for the workshop?

We’ve got you covered! We provide everything: a huge rainbow of spray cans, professional-grade masks, gloves, and protective overalls. We also bring the 'canvas'—whether that's large boards for a group mural or individual pieces for each student to take home. The only thing you need to provide is a group of excited students and a suitable outdoor space if we are coming to you!

What are the educational benefits for my students?

Street art is a fantastic tool for social-emotional learning. It encourages teamwork, boosts self-esteem, and provides a unique outlet for self-expression. Many Lisbon schools use our workshops to decorate common areas, creating a sense of ownership and pride in the school environment. It’s also a brilliant way to introduce students to contemporary art history and the vibrant local culture of Portugal's capital.

How do we handle payment and booking?

We believe in a 'fun first, pay later' approach. There is no upfront payment required to book your workshop. You only pay after the event is successfully completed and your students are buzzing with excitement. We accept bank transfers or card payments, making the administrative side as simple as possible for your school's finance office. Just request a quote, and we’ll handle the rest!

Steg för steg

Introduction & Safety: We start with a fun talk about the history of graffiti in Lisbon and a vital safety briefing on how to use our gear properly.
The Masterclass: A professional artist demonstrates basic strokes, dots, and lines to show the kids what’s possible with a spray can.
Sketching Ideas: Students grab paper and markers to plan their tags or characters, letting their local Lisbon inspiration flow onto paper first.
First Sprays: Under close supervision, the children head to the practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and distance needed for the paint.
The Big Project: Whether it's a collaborative school mural or individual canvases, the main event begins as the students start layering their colours.
Adding Details: We teach them how to add outlines, highlights, and those 'cool' final touches that make the artwork pop.
The Grand Reveal: We finish with a group photo and a 'gallery walk' where students can celebrate each other's creative achievements.

Lokal kultur

Lisbon is one of the world's most vibrant capitals for street art, from the iconic murals in Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo to the hidden gems in the Graça district. Our workshops tap into this local Portuguese energy, teaching students that art isn't just something found in a museum—it's part of the heartbeat of their city. We often reference famous local styles to give the kids a sense of connection to the streets they walk every day.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Lisbon has a dedicated 'Galeria de Arte Urbana' (GAU) that actually encourages legal street art? The city sees graffiti as a way to rejuvenate old buildings, making it the perfect place for young artists to start their journey! 🇵🇹
