Do we need any prior art experience to join the workshop?

Absolutely! Most participants at our Groningen university workshops have never touched a spray can before. Our professional artists start with the basics, from how to hold the can to mastering pressure control. We provide a safe, encouraging environment where you can experiment, make mistakes, and eventually create something you're truly proud of. It’s all about the experience and having a blast with your fellow students.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for students?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective overalls, and gloves to keep you and your clothes clean. We also use professional-grade spray paint and conduct sessions in well-ventilated areas. Our artists provide a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone starts spraying, ensuring everyone understands how to use the equipment responsibly while still having high-energy fun.

How long does a typical session last?

A standard university workshop in Groningen usually lasts between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. This timeframe includes the introductory talk, technique practice, and the final creation of your masterpiece. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high without people getting tired. However, we can also adapt the duration to fit into a specific student Association 'lustrum' or orientation week schedule.

What is the maximum group size for a university event?

We are incredibly flexible! For student groups in Groningen, we can host small committees of 10 people or massive orientation events for 100+ participants. We have a large team of backup artists and plenty of equipment to scale the event up or down. If you have a huge group, we often work in rotations or on giant communal murals to keep everyone engaged.

Where in Groningen do the workshops take place?

We love the 'Stad'! We can host workshops at various cool outdoor spots around Groningen that are legal for graffiti, or even at specific university campus locations if permission is granted. If the weather looks typically Dutch (rainy!), we have access to indoor locations or can set up professional coverings. We’ll help you choose the best spot near your faculty or student house.

How does the payment process work for student groups?

One of the best things about Graffitifun is our 'no-stress' booking policy. You don't have to pay anything upfront. We trust our community, so you only pay after the workshop has been successfully completed. This makes it much easier for student treasurers to manage the budget without needing to chase reimbursements before the event even starts.

Are all materials included in the price?

We provide everything! This includes premium spray paint in a huge range of colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear (suits, masks, gloves), and the canvases or boards you’ll be painting on. For university groups, we can even arrange for custom-themed stencils if you want to incorporate your association’s logo or a specific message into the artwork.

Lokal kultur

Groningen, often called the 'Metropolis of the North', has a soul that's deeply intertwined with student life and creative freedom. From the colourful houses of Reitdiephaven to the modern vibes of the Forum, the city is a playground for visual inspiration. Did you know that Groningen has a long-standing history of supporting urban arts, with several legal graffiti zones where the scene continues to thrive? 🎨

Fun Fact: The Groningen Museum itself is a piece of art! Its postmodern architecture reflects exactly the kind of bold, experimental thinking we encourage in our workshops.

When we host a workshop here, we tap into that 'Groningse' down-to-earth energy combined with the international flair of the university community. It’s not just an activity; it’s a way to connect with the city’s underground pulse while building a tighter bond with your fellow students. 💪
