Do I need to be good at drawing to join the workshop?

No prior artistic experience is needed at all! Our workshops in Funchal are designed for everyone, from total beginners to those who have dabbled in art before. Our professional artists will guide you through every step, starting from how to hold the spray can to advanced shading techniques. By the end of the session, you will be amazed at the masterpiece you have created with your own hands.

What should I wear for the graffiti session?

We provide all the necessary safety equipment, including protective overalls, gloves, and masks to ensure you stay clean and safe. However, we always recommend wearing comfortable 'work' clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny splash of paint on, just in case. Street art is a hands-on activity, and while we take every precaution, it is best to be prepared for a bit of creative mess!

Is the paint safe to use?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority at Graffitifun. we use high-quality spray paints and provide professional-grade protective gear for every participant. Our instructors are experienced professionals who oversee the entire process, ensuring that everyone follows safety protocols while having a blast. Whether it is a school group or a corporate event, you are in very safe hands with our expert team.

How long does the graffiti experience last?

A standard workshop in Funchal typically lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time to cover the history of the culture, practice basic techniques on plastic foils or practice walls, and then move on to creating a final, polished artwork on a canvas or a designated wall space. We can also tailor the duration to fit your specific event schedule if needed.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Rain is rarely a problem for us! If the weather in Madeira takes a turn, we have several options. We can move the event to a covered outdoor area or an indoor location using low-odour, water-based spray paints that are safe for indoor use. Alternatively, we can reschedule the workshop to a drier time. We always have a backup plan ready so your event can go ahead.

How many people can participate in one session?

Our workshops in Funchal are incredibly flexible. We cater to small private groups, large school classes, and massive corporate brand activations. Whether you are a group of 5 or 500, we have the staff and materials to accommodate you. For very large groups, we bring in additional backup artists to ensure everyone gets personal attention and a high-quality experience throughout the session.

Can I take my artwork home after the event?

Yes, you can! Depending on the workshop format you choose, many of our participants create their artwork on high-quality canvases that are yours to take home. It makes for a fantastic, personalised souvenir of your time in Funchal. If we are working on a large communal mural, we will make sure to take plenty of professional-quality photos so you can share your contribution with the world digitally.

Schritt für Schritt

Intro & inspiration: We start with a brief history of global street art and how it has influenced the creative scene right here in Madeira.
Safety first: Get geared up in your protective suit, mask, and gloves. Our pros will show you the right way to handle the spray cans.
First lines: Start by practicing basic shapes and lines on practice surfaces to get a feel for the pressure and flow of the paint.
Concept design: Sketch out your ideas on paper or directly onto your canvas with the guidance of our lead artist.
Fill & flow: Learn how to fill in large areas efficiently and how to blend colours for that classic "fading" graffiti look.
The outline: This is where the magic happens! We'll teach you how to add sharp outlines to make your artwork pop.
Final flares: Add highlights, "glimmers", and those tiny professional details that turn a sketch into a masterpiece.
Group gallery: We wrap up by reviewing everyone's work, taking group photos, and celebrating your new skills!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Lokale Kultur

Funchal is world-famous for its "Art of Open Doors" (Arte de Portas Abertas) in the Zona Velha, where the historic streets have been transformed into a permanent outdoor gallery. Our workshops draw inspiration from this local spirit of revitalisation. We don't just teach you to paint; we connect you with the creative pulse of Madeira. 🌊

Fun Fact: Did you know that some of the most famous murals in Funchal were painted on doors that are over 100 years old? Street art here isn't just decoration; it's a way of keeping history alive through modern expression! 🏆
