Step by step

  1. Intro and safety briefing: We kick things off with a quick chat about the history of graffiti and a very important run-through of our safety rules and how to use the gear.
  2. Mastering the nozzle: Students learn how to hold the can, control pressure, and create different line widths by adjusting their distance from the wall.
  3. Sketching the vision: Before we spray, we brainstorm ideas and sketch out designs on paper to plan the flow of the letters and colors.
  4. First strokes: Time to hit the wall! Students start with the "fill-in," applying their chosen base colors to their designs using broad movements.
  5. Defining the edges: We teach the trick of "outlining" to make the logos and letters really stand out against the background.
  6. Adding the "pop": This is where we add highlights, 3D shadows, and "force fields" around the art to give it that authentic street art depth.
  7. The finishing touches: Students add stars, drips, or tags to personalize their work and make it truly unique.
  8. Group photo and cleanup: We wrap up by taking photos of the amazing masterpieces and ensuring all materials are packed away safely.

    Local culture

    Street art in Lagos

Lagos is a city that breathes energy, from the bustling streets of Lagos Island to the creative hubs in Surulere. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, encouraging students to draw inspiration from the colorful Danfo buses and the bold murals popping up across the city's flyovers. We celebrate the unique "Naija style"—bold, resilient, and incredibly expressive. By bringing street art into a controlled after-school environment, we give Lagosian youth a constructive way to engage with the urban landscape they see every day. It's more than just painting; it's about capturing the hustle and heart of Lagos on a canvas of their own making.
