Is the graffiti workshop safe for school-aged children?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including gloves, masks, and overalls. Our professional instructors in Rotterdam are experienced in working with younger age groups and provide constant supervision. We use low-odour professional spray paint specifically designed for ease of use, ensuring a safe and creative environment for everyone involved.

How long does a typical after-school session last?

A standard after-school session in Rotterdam typically lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This provides enough time for a thorough safety briefing, brainstorming ideas, practicing basic techniques on a practice wall or cardboard, and finally creating a masterpiece on a personal canvas or a shared wooden panel. We can adjust the duration to fit your school's specific timetable if needed.

What materials do we need to provide?

We take care of everything! Graffitifun provides all the necessary street art supplies, including premium spray cans in every colour of the rainbow, nozzles (caps), Protective clothing, and the painting surfaces. We can even bring portable graffiti walls to your location in Rotterdam. All participants need to bring is their enthusiasm and clothes they don't mind getting a little dusty!

Do the students need to have any artistic experience?

Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and beginner-friendly. No prior drawing or artistic skill is required! Our professional artists guide the students through every step, from holding the can correctly to creating cool 3D effects. Most students are amazed at what they can achieve in just one session. It's all about having fun and expresssing yourself.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Rotterdam weather can be unpredictable, but we’ve got you covered! We have access to several cool indoor locations across the city, or we can set up temporary indoor spray zones using protective floor covers and ventilation if your facility allows. If the weather is great, we love working outside in the fresh air, but we always have a backup plan ready.

How does the payment process work?

At Graffitifun, we believe in 'fun first, pay later.' You don’t need to make any upfront payments to secure your booking. Once the workshop is finished and everyone is happy with their street art experience, we will send over the invoice. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the quality and excitement we bring to your Rotterdam after-school programme.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

We recommend a minimum group size of 10 students to get that great collaborative energy going. However, we can accommodate very large groups of up to 100+ participants by bringing in multiple professional artists. We maintain a high artist-to-student ratio to ensure every child gets personal guidance and learns the proper techniques while staying safe and having a blast.

Safety first: Every student gets geared up with protective gear and learns the essential 'do's and don'ts' of spray painting.
The tag creator: We start by sketching. Students learn how to design their own 'tag' or nickname using our unique sketching techniques.
First sprays: After a demonstration, students head to the practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and flow of the spray cans.
Colour and layers: We dive into the world of 'fills' and 'fades,' teaching how to blend colours like a pro.
The masterpiece: Students move onto their final piece, applying everything they've learned to create a vibrant work of art.
Fine details: We use specialised nozzles to add those sharp outlines and 'highlights' that make the graffiti pop!
The showcase: We finish with a group photo and a mini-exhibition where everyone gets to show off their creative work.

Local culture

Rotterdam is arguably the street art capital of the Netherlands! From the huge murals in the Zomerhofkwartier to the iconic spots around Witte de Withstraat, the city's walls tell a story of innovation and grit. Our workshops tap into this local 'Niet lullen maar poetsen' (don't talk, just do) mentality—we encourage students to jump right in and start creating. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Rotterdam is home to the 'Rewriters' app? It’s a dedicated street art route through the city. We often find our students checking out these local landmarks for inspiration before they start their own pieces! 🏆

By bringing an after-school workshop to Rotterdam, you're not just offering an activity; you're connecting students with the modern soul of their city. It’s an authentic experience that resonates with the urban energy of the Maasstad.
