How long does a typical after-school workshop last?

Most our after-school sessions in Utrecht run between 1.5 and 2 hours. This gives the children enough time to learn the basics, practice their 'pieces', and complete their final masterpiece without getting too tired. We can adjust the timing to fit your specific school schedule or after-school care (BSO) requirements. It’s the perfect amount of time to get fully immersed in the world of street art!

Is it safe for children to use spray paint?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality FFP2 masks to prevent inhalation of fumes, disposable gloves, and protective suits to keep those school uniforms clean. Our professional instructors are highly experienced in managing groups of children and ensure that the spray cans are used responsibly and safely throughout the entire creative process.

Do the students need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Most kids have never touched a spray can before they meet us. Our artists are fantastic mentors who break down the techniques into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Whether a child is naturally artistic or just looking to try something new, they will walk away with a piece of art they are genuinely proud of.

Where in Utrecht do these workshops take place?

In Utrecht, we are very flexible. We can host the workshop at your school grounds if there is a suitable outdoor space (like a playground or bike shed), or we can arrange for the group to come to one of our dedicated legal graffiti zones in the city. If the weather is particularly 'Dutch' (rainy!), we have indoor solutions using water-based paint or protective sheeting to keep everything tidy.

What should the children wear on the day?

Wear clothes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on! While we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, graffiti can sometimes be a bit messy, and paint has a way of finding its way onto shoes or sleeves. We recommend old trainers and comfortable clothing so the kids can move freely and focus entirely on their artistic expression without worrying about a stray drip.

Can the kids take their artwork home with them?

Absolutely! One of the best things about our workshops is that every participant gets to take their creation home. We usually work on high-quality canvases or sturdy plates. Seeing the children's faces light up when they realise they get to hang their own 'street art' on their bedroom wall is the best part of our job! It's a fantastic souvenir of their creative journey.

How much does an after-school graffiti workshop cost?

Our standard pricing for after-school activities in Utrecht ranges from €25 to €55 per person. This variation depends mostly on the number of participants and the specific materials or location requirements. We aim to make street art accessible, so we offer various packages. Total creative freedom: No "right or wrong" here – just pure expression and finding your own style. 🎤
Confidence booster: Taking a blank canvas to a finished 'piece' gives kids a massive sense of achievement.
Local expertise: Our Utrecht-based artists know the local scene and bring authentic street vibes. 🏆
Stress-free for schools: We bring everything. No mess, no fuss, just high-quality engagement.
Interactive fun: Between our Tag Creator tool and the physical spray painting, there’s never a dull moment.
100% Satisfaction: We’ve done this for years and we know exactly how to make it an unforgettable afternoon. 🔥

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: We kick things off with a high-energy intro about graffiti history and, most importantly, how to stay safe while using the gear. 🛡️
Sketching the blueprint: Every masterpiece starts with a plan. Kids grab paper and pencils to sketch out their tags and design their colour schemes.
Spray tech 101: Our pros teach the secret techniques – from 'caps' and pressure control to how to make thin lines and thick fills.
Practice on the wall: Before hitting the final canvas, students get to practice their flow on a practice wall to build up their confidence. 🎨
Setting the background: We start the final piece by creating vibrant, fading backgrounds that make the future 'piece' pop.
The big outline: This is where the magic happens! Kids spray the main letters or characters of their design onto their canvas.
Adding the 'flair': We teach them how to add highlights, 3D effects, and those classic graffiti drips for an authentic look.
The finishing touch: A sharp outline and some 'force bubbles' around the art make it look professional and complete.
Photo op & gallery: We finish with a group photo and a 'gallery walk' where everyone celebrates each other's creative hard work! 📸

Local culture

Utrecht is a city that lives and breathes creativity, from the iconic Rietveld Schröder House to the hidden street art gems tucked away in the Spoorzone and around the Amsterdamsestraatweg. There is a deep-rooted respect for 'the craft' here, and our workshops aim to channel that local Utrecht energy! 🏰🔥

Fun Fact: Did you know Utrecht is home to some of the tallest murals in the Netherlands? The 'De Strakke Hand' collective has transformed several apartment blocks into giant works of art. Our workshops teach kids the very basics of the techniques used by these local legends!

By bringing an after-school graffiti workshop to Utrecht, you're connecting students with their city's modern culture. It’s about more than just paint; it’s about feeling part of the vibrant, colourful community that makes Utrecht so unique. We love seeing how the local youngsters take inspiration from the canals and the Dom Tower to create something totally fresh.
