Is the paint safe for primary school children?

Safety is our absolute number one priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls for all students to keep clothes clean and lungs safe. Our professional artists are highly experienced in managing large groups of children, ensuring everyone uses the spray cans correctly. We also use low-odour professional paint and prefer working in well-ventilated or outdoor spaces to ensure a comfortable environment for the kids.

Can children with no artistic experience participate?

Absolutely! We believe street art is for everyone. Our workshops are designed to be inclusive, allowing children of all physical and cognitive abilities to participate. Whether they are master illustrators or have never held a crayon, our artists provide individual guidance to ensure every child feels proud of what they create. It is all about expression, not perfection, making it a fantastic confidence-booster for every student.

What kind of space do we need at the school?

Ideally, we need a well-ventilated outdoor area like a school playground or a covered shed. However, if the Rotterdam weather isn't cooperating, we can set up indoors provided there is sufficient ventilation and we can protect the floors and walls. We are very flexible and can usually find a creative solution for any school location to make the workshop happen safely.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard primary school workshop usually lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours. This gives us enough time for a fun introduction, safety briefing, practice session, and the creation of the final masterpiece. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your specific school timetable or break schedule. If you have multiple classes, we can run back-to-back sessions throughout the school day.

Do we need to provide any materials?

We provide everything! This includes all the premium spray paint, caps, safety gear (suits, masks, gloves), and the surfaces to paint on. We can bring large wooden boards or individual canvases depending on your preference. The school just needs to provide the space and the enthusiastic kids—we handle the set-up, the mess, and the clean-up afterwards.

What do the children actually get to paint?

For primary schools, we find that a collaborative mural is a huge hit! It teaches teamwork and results in a stunning piece of art the school can display. However, we also offer individual canvases if you want each child to take their own artwork home. We can even tailor the theme to match your current curriculum, like 'Sustainability', 'Friendship', or 'Our City Rotterdam'.

How much does a graffiti workshop cost for a school?

Our pricing is flexible and depends on the number of students and the chosen format. Generally, prices range between €25 and €55 per student. We aim to make these workshops accessible for educational institutions, so we offer special rates for larger groups or full-school activity days. Step by step

Intro & inspiration: Our professional artists start with a high-energy intro about the history of graffiti and street art culture in Rotterdam.
Safety first: Every student gets geared up in protective overalls, gloves, and a high-quality mask to ensure a safe, clean experience.
Design session: Kids grab paper and markers to sketch out their ideas, learning about 'tags', 'throw-ups', and letter styles.
Can control basics: We head to the 'wall' where the artists demonstrate how to hold the can, control pressure, and swap nozzles.
Practice run: The children get their first taste of spray painting, practicing lines and shapes on a practice surface to build confidence.
Creating the masterpiece: Now the real fun begins! Whether it's a giant mural or individual canvases, the kids start layering their colours.
Adding the details: Our artists help the students add highlights, shadows, and sharp outlines to make their work really pop.
The big reveal: We take a group photo with the finished artwork—a proud moment for all the young artists involved!
Clean up: We handle the tidy-up, leaving the school grounds exactly as we found them, just with a lot more colour and happy faces.

We love bringing this local urban energy into the classroom. Your students aren't just spraying paint; they are connecting with a culture that defines their city. 🏙️

Fun Fact: Rotterdam is home to the 'Rewriters' app, which guides people through amazing street art trails across the city. Many of the artists who created those famous murals are part of the inspiration we bring to our workshops!
