Is the paint safe for primary school children?

Safety is our absolute priority. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier for small hands to control and provide high-quality FFP2 respiratory masks, gloves, and protective ponchos. Our artists are experienced in working with primary-aged children and maintain a strictly supervised environment at all times, ensuring everyone stays safe while having a blast.

What is the minimum age for the workshop?

We usually recommend our primary school workshops for children in Group 5 and above (approx. 8 years old). At this age, they have the motor skills to press the nozzles and the focus to follow safety instructions. However, we can adapt sessions for slightly younger groups with simplified techniques and extra support from our artist team.

Do we need a specific type of location at our school?

Ideally, workshops are held outdoors or in very well-ventilated semi-outdoor spaces. In Amsterdam, we can work at your school playground or at dedicated legal graffiti zones like NDSM Wharf. If the weather is poor, we can move under a canopy or use indoor spaces provided there is industrial-grade ventilation and floor protection.

Do the pupils need any prior drawing or art skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the basics of how to hold a can and move up to creating shapes and shadows. Our goal is to boost their confidence, showing them that with a few professional tips, anyone can create something they are proud of.

How long does a typical school session last?

Standard workshops for primary schools typically last between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This timeframe is perfect for maintaining the children's attention spans while allowing enough time for the introduction, practice, and the creation of their final masterpiece. We can adjust the duration to fit into your specific school timetable.

How does the payment process work for schools?

We make things easy for teachers. We don't require any upfront payment or deposits to secure your Amsterdam workshop. You simply pay via invoice after the workshop has been successfully completed. This ensures you are 100% satisfied with the experience before the transaction is finalised.

The experience

Boosts creativity: Gives children a break from traditional pen-and-paper art and lets them think big.
Safe & professional: We use high-quality safety gear and low-pressure cans designed for younger users.
Absolute reliability: With our pool of backup artists, your school event will never be cancelled.
Zero financial risk: No upfront payment; you only pay once the workshop is finished and you're happy.
Team building: Collaborative mural projects help pupils communicate and work together towards a single goal.
Inclusion: Graffiti is a 'level playing field' where every child, regardless of traditional academic skill, can excel.

Step by step

Introduction & safety briefing: Our professional artist meets the class and explains the 'golden rules' of using spray cans safely and respectfully.
Demonstration: The kids watch a live demo of basic lines, dots, and filling techniques to see how the paint behaves on the surface.
First practice: Each pupil gets their gear and starts with 'air-painting' to get the feel of the movement before moving onto the practice boards.
Design phase: Working individually or in small groups, the children sketch out their ideas, focusing on bold shapes and bright colours.
Filling & fading: This is where the magic happens! The students learn how to blend colours and create those classic graffiti gradients.
Outlining: We teach the kids how to add a 'power line' to make their letters or characters pop and look professional.
The finishing touches: Adding highlights and small details to bring the artwork to life.
Group photo & cleanup: We celebrate the creativity with a class photo in front of the art before we take care of all the tidying up.
