Is the graffiti workshop safe for secondary school students?

Absolutely! We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep everyone’s school clothes clean. Safety is our top priority, and our artists supervise the group throughout the entire session to ensure the spray paint is used responsibly. We only use professional-grade low-pressure cans which are much easier for students to control during the creative process.

How long does a typical workshop session last?

A standard workshop for secondary schools in Amsterdam usually lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours. This provides enough time for a solid introduction, some practice runs, and the creation of their final masterpiece. If you have a specific school timetable to stick to, we can easily adjust the duration to fit into a double lesson or a full activity day.

What is the maximum group size you can handle?

We are extremely flexible! Whether you have a small art class of 15 students or an entire year group of 100+, we can accommodate you. For larger groups, we bring in additional professional artists from our backup pool to ensure every student gets enough personal guidance and attention. This keeps the energy high and the learning experience focused.

Do we need to come to a specific location in Amsterdam?

One of the best things about Graffitifun is our flexibility. We can host the workshop at one of Amsterdam's famous 'Hall of Fame' legal street art spots like the NDSM Wharf, or we can bring the entire setup to your school premises. If we come to you, we'll just need an outdoor space with enough room for our mobile boards.

Do the students need any prior drawing or art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels. Our artists start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, how to control the pressure, and how to create simple lines. Most students are amazed at what they can produce by the end of the session, even if they’ve never considered themselves 'artistic' before.

Do we have to pay in advance for the school workshop?

We understand how school budgets and planning work. You don't need to pay anything upfront when you book with us. We want you to feel confident in our service, so payment is only required after the workshop has been successfully completed. This ensures a stress-free administrative process for your school's finance department.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Rain is part of life in the Netherlands! If the weather looks bad, we can often move the workshop to a sheltered outdoor area at your school or use a covered spot at a legal graffiti zone. Because we have a large team of artists, we are very reliable and will always work with you to find a solution rather than cancelling.

Step by step

Introduction & History: We start with a brief, engaging chat about the roots of street art and its evolution from New York subways to Amsterdam's modern galleries.
Safety Briefing: Students get kitted out in protective gear and learn how to handle spray cans safely and respectfully.
Mastering the Can: Our artists demonstrate essential techniques like 'flares', 'fades', and how to get those crisp outlines.
Sketching the Concept: Students work on their initial ideas on paper, planning their tags or pieces before moving to the 'wall'.
First Strokes: Time to hit the boards! Students practice their technique under the guidance of our professional street artists.
Filling & Detail: This is where the magic happens. We help students add vibrant colours, 3D effects, and those all-important highlights.
