Is the spray paint safe for participants with sensitivities?

Absolutely! We take safety very seriously. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks and gloves. We also use low-odour professional spray paint whenever possible and ensure the workshop takes place in a well-ventilated area within Riobamba. Our instructors are trained to supervise the use of materials closely, ensuring everyone stays safe while having a blast.

Can you host the workshop at our specific location in Riobamba?

We are incredibly flexible. Whether it's a community centre, a private garden, or a local school hall in Riobamba, we can bring the workshop to you. If you don't have a venue, let us know! We have networks across the city and can help find an accessible space that works for your group's specific accessibility requirements.

Do participants need any prior artistic experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. We start with the basics of 'can control' and simple lines. Our artists are expert at breaking down complex techniques into manageable steps. The focus is on the sensory experience and the joy of creation rather than technical perfection. Everyone leaves with something they are proud of!

How long does a special needs graffiti workshop typically last?

A standard session usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. However, we know that every group has different needs. If you feel your group would benefit from a shorter, high-energy session or a longer, more relaxed pace with more breaks, just tell us. We are happy to adjust the timing to ensure everyone remains comfortable and engaged.

What is the ideal group size for this program?

We typically suggest a ratio of one artist to every 10-12 participants to ensure everyone gets enough individual attention. For groups with higher support needs, we can bring additional assistant artists. We also welcome carers and support staff to jump in and help—it’s a great bonding activity for the whole team!

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor workshop?

Riobamba weather can be unpredictable! For outdoor sessions, we always have a backup plan. This might involve using a covered area or shifting the date. Because we have a large team of backup artists, we almost never cancel. If the weather doesn't play ball, we’ll work with you to find the best alternative.

Step by step

Enquire and adapt: Reach out to our team! We’ll chat about your group’s specific needs, mobility requirements, and sensory preferences to tailor the workshop perfectly.
Pick your spot: We select an accessible location in Riobamba or come directly to your facility. We ensure there is plenty of space for wheelchairs and easy access to amenities.
The creative briefing: Our friendly artists start with a fun introduction, showing off some cool tricks and explaining how to use the cans safely and effectively.
Sketching your vision: Before we touch the paint, we use markers and paper (or tablets) to brainstorm ideas. This helps everyone get comfortable with their design.
Protective gear up: We provide all the 'street art' suits, gloves, and masks. Getting into the gear is part of the transformation into a real graffiti artist!
First sprays: Participants start on a practice wall or canvas to get a feel for the pressure of the spray nozzle and the vibrant colours.
Creating the masterpiece: With hands-on guidance from our pros, the group works on a large collective mural or individual canvases that they can keep.
The grand reveal: We take a moment to admire the work, take group photos, and celebrate the incredible creativity on display.
Zero-stress wrap up: No need to worry about the cleanup. We take care of everything, leaving the space exactly as we found it.

Local culture

Riobamba is a city of incredible history and breathtaking landscapes, and we love bringing its creative spirit to life through street art. While the city is known for its colonial architecture and proximity to the majestic Chimborazo volcano, there is a growing appreciation for modern, urban expression. Our workshops often take inspiration from the vibrant colours of the local markets and the patterns of traditional Ecuadorian textiles.

Fun Fact: Did you know Riobamba was the first city planned in Ecuador? We take that same spirit of careful planning and apply it to our accessibility, ensuring that even in a city with historic roots, our art experiences remain modern and inclusive for everyone! 🎨
