Step by step

  1. Meet your artist: Find us at our vibrant outdoor location where you'll be greeted by a local Dar street art expert.
  2. Safety & gear: Suit up in your protective gear and learn the essential safety rules for using aerosol spray cans.
  3. Master the 'Tag': Start with the basics by learning how to create your own signature tag and mastering line thickness.
  4. Sketching your vision: Use chalk or light spray to outline your main design on the canvas or wall.
  5. Filling & fading: Learn the 'Bongo' style of filling in large areas and creating smooth colour transitions (gradients).
  6. The 'Cut' & outlines: Refine your work by adding sharp outlines and highlights to make your graffiti 'pop' off the surface.
  7. Final flourishes: Add those professional touches like drips, stars, or secondary outlines to finish your masterpiece.
  8. Photos & celebration: Strike a pose with your creation for the ultimate holiday photo before we wrap up the session.

Local culture

Street art in Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam, or simply 'Dar', is a city of incredible energy where traditional Swahili culture meets modern urban hustle. The street art scene here is growing fast, influenced by both global trends and local 'Bongo Flava' vibes. You'll see murals that tell stories of daily life, African heritage, and the city's coastal identity. Painting here feels different—the light is brighter, the colours feel more intense, and the local community always brings a smile and an encouraging word. 🇹🇿

Fun Fact: The name 'Dar es Salaam' translates to 'Abode of Peace' in Arabic, but don't let the name fool you—it is arguably the most energetic street art hub in East Africa!

Pricing

Our workshop prices are as flexible as our art! Because we tailor every session to your specific needs—whether you're looking for a private 1-on-1 session or a large group activity—we don't have a one-size-fits-all price list.
