The experience
Why choose a graffiti workshop for your after-school programme? Besides being the coolest activity on the schedule, it offers massive benefits for young people:
- Boosts Creativity: There are no 'wrong' colours in graffiti; it's pure, uninhibited self-expression ✨.
- Team Building: Working on large-scale murals teaches students how to collaborate and communicate 🤝.
- Physical Activity: Spraying requires movement, coordination, and a bit of a workout for those arms! 💪
- Ditch the Screens: It’s the perfect way to get kids away from their phones and doing something tactile and real.
- Accessible Art: You don't need to be a 'traditional' artist to excel; graffiti is for everyone 🎨.
- Professional Mentorship: Learn directly from active street artists who live and breathe the culture 🏆.

Step by step
- The Arrival & Gear Up: We start with a warm welcome where everyone gets their professional protective gear, including overalls, gloves, and masks.
- Safety & Tool Talk: Our artists explain the 'golden rules' of spraying, how to handle the cans safely, and the importance of ventilation.
- Mastering the Lines: Students start with basic exercises on a practice wall to learn how to control pressure and create thin or thick lines.
- Sketching the Concept: Once the basics are down, we move on to sketching out the main design, focusing on letters, shapes, and character outlines.
- Filling & Fading: This is where the magic happens! We teach the kids how to fill in their designs and create cool 3D effects or colour gradients.
- The Final Outline: To make the artwork 'pop', we add the sharp final outlines and highlight details that bring the graffiti to life.
- Group Review: We take a moment to look at everyone's work, share positive feedback, and learn from each other's different styles.
- Clean-up & Photos: We wrap up by tidying the area and taking plenty of photos of the creative journey and the final masterpieces!

Local culture
Street art in Florence
Florence might be the home of Michelangelo and Botticelli, but its modern streets are alive with a different kind of masterpiece. From the clever 'modified' street signs by Clet Abraham to the underwater-themed windows of Blub, Florence has a rich, contemporary street art scene that perfectly complements its classical heritage. Our workshops tap into this local 'Firenze' vibe, teaching kids to appreciate both the old and the new.
Fun Fact: Did you know that Florence is one of the few cities where street art is officially celebrated with dedicated 'free walls'? It's the perfect environment for young artists to transition from Da Vinci to urban legends!
