Step by step

  1. The safety briefing: We start by teaching the kids how to use the gear correctly, including masks and gloves, to keep the fun safe and clean.
  2. Learning the basics: Our pros demonstrate "can control"—how distance and pressure change the lines on the wall.
  3. Tagging practice: Students start by practicing their own "tag" or nickname on temporary surfaces to find their unique style.
  4. Concept sketching: Every child sketches their design on paper, planning out the colours and shapes they want to use.
  5. Outline and fill: The exciting part! Kids move to the main surface to outline their design and fill it with vibrant, bold colours.
  6. The "High-Light" effect: We teach them how to add shines and shadows to make their artwork pop and look 3D.
  7. Final outlines: A crisp black or white outline is added to finish the piece, giving it that professional street art look.
  8. Masterpiece reveal: We take group photos of the incredible new artwork before everyone packs up their custom creations to take home.

Local culture

Street art in Kolwezi

Kolwezi is a city defined by its incredible energy and its status as a global mining hub. But beyond the copper and cobalt, there is a rising tide of urban culture and creativity! Our workshops tap into this local spirit, encouraging students to draw inspiration from the bustling markets and the industrial landscapes that make Lualaba Province unique. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Kolwezi is one of the fastest-growing cities in the DR Congo? As the city expands, so does its art scene, making it the perfect place for the next generation of muralists to start their journey!

From the streets of the Manika commune to the schools near the city centre, we bring the vibe of a modern street art gallery to your doorstep. We love seeing how local kids incorporate the bright colours of Congolese textiles and the strength of their city into their graffiti designs.
