What should I wear to a graffiti workshop in Breda?

To make sure you get the most out of your workshop in Breda, we suggest wearing old clothes and shoes that you don’t mind getting a few paint splatters on. Even though we provide high-quality protective overalls and gloves, graffiti is a messy art form and spray paint tends to find its way onto sleeves or trainers. Comfortable, casual attire is definitely the way to go for this creative event.

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally, we recommend booking your Breda cultural event at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance, especially for weekend slots or large groups. However, we have a large team of professional artists and backup experts across the Netherlands, so we can often accommodate last-minute requests. If you have a sudden stroke of inspiration, just get in touch and we will do our best to make it happen.

Do we need any previous artistic experience?

Absolutely! Most of our Breda participants have never touched a spray can before. Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and educational. We start with the absolute basics—how to hold the can, control the pressure, and create clean lines—before moving on to more complex techniques. Our professional artists will guide your group every step of the way to ensure everyone creates something they are proud of.

Is the spray paint safe to use?

We use high-quality spray paint and provide all necessary safety equipment, including gloves and protective masks with FFP3 filters. Safety is our top priority, and our artists are trained to supervise the session professionally. We also ensure that the workshop takes place in a well-ventilated area or a designated legal graffiti zone in Breda to guarantee a safe environment for all participants.

Can we keep the artwork we create?

The final masterpiece is yours to keep! After the workshop, your group can take the large canvas or wooden panels back home or to your office. It serves as a fantastic, colourful reminder of your collective creativity in Breda. If you’re working on a public wall during a specific street art project, the art stays there for the public to enjoy, but most cultural events use portable canvases.

How long does the workshop session last?

Our standard cultural graffiti workshops usually last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This timeframe provides the perfect balance between learning the history of the craft, practicing individual techniques, and collaborating on a final large-scale piece. If you have a specific schedule or need a shorter 'teaser' session for a festival, we can easily customise the duration to fit your event's timeline.

Step by step

Introduction and history: We start with a brief, engaging look at the evolution of graffiti from New York subways to Breda's local street art scene.
Safety and gear: Everyone gets geared up with protective overalls, gloves, and high-quality masks to ensure a clean and safe creative environment.
Spray can basics: Our artists demonstrate how to handle the can, explaining the difference between various caps (nozzles) and how to control paint flow.
Sketching your concept: You'll begin by sketching your design on a large canvas, focusing on letter structure, flow, and composition.
First layers: Start filling in your letters with vibrant colours, learning how to blend shades and create smooth gradients.
Outlining and highlights: Add the 'pop' to your piece by masterfully outlining your letters and adding highlights or 'shines' to give them a 3D effect.
Special effects: Learn advanced tricks like 'dusting', drips, or starbursts to give your artwork that professional, edgy street art finish.
Group masterpiece review: We step back to admire the collective work, taking photos and discussing the techniques used throughout the session.

Local culture

Breda is a city that truly breathes creativity, making it the perfect backdrop for a graffiti cultural event. While many people know it for the historic Grote Kerk, the city has secretly become a massive open-air gallery thanks to the "Blind Walls Gallery" project. Throughout the city streets, dozens of murals tell the stories of Breda's past and present, creating a local culture that fully embraces urban art. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, often taking inspiration from the murals found near the Mols-parking or the industrial vibes of the Belcrum district. By participating in a workshop here, you aren't just learning a skill; you're joining a local movement that celebrates Breda's identity as a hub for modern, visual storytelling.

Pricing

We believe in transparent, value-driven pricing for our cultural experiences. Our Breda workshop prices typically range from €25 to €55 per person. This variation depends on the total number of participants, the duration of the event, and whether you require a specific location or custom materials like individual take-home canvases. Because every cultural event in Breda is unique, we want to make sure you get exactly what you need.
