Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the teacher training?

Absolutely! No previous experience with spray cans is required. Our Denpasar-based artists are experts at teaching the basics to beginners. We start with safety and basic lines before moving on to complex techniques like shading and 'wildstyle' lettering. By the end of the session, you'll have the confidence to teach these same skills to your own students, regardless of your starting point.

What materials are provided during the training session?

All professional-grade materials are included in the workshop fee. We provide high-quality low-pressure spray paint cans (easier for beginners to control), a variety of nozzles (caps) for different effects, protective clothing, masks, and gloves. We also provide the canvases or practice walls and educational hand-outs that you can take back to your classroom or studio to help structure your future lessons.

Which age groups is this art teacher training suitable for?

The training is highly versatile! The techniques you'll learn in Denpasar are applicable to primary school art classes, secondary school projects, and even community youth programmes. We focus on how to adapt the difficulty levels for different age groups, ensuring you can lead a safe and engaging session whether you're working with eight-year-olds or teenagers. We cover both the artistic and the pedagogical side.

How long does a typical professional development session last?

We understand that art teachers are busy! Our standard professional development sessions in Bali typically last between 2 and 3 hours. This includes the introductory theory, safety briefing, hands-on practice, and a final feedback session. However, we can also offer extended half-day intensive courses if you want to dive deeper into history and advanced mural techniques. We are flexible to your schedule!

Is the spray painting process safe for a school environment?

Safety is our number one priority. We use high-quality masks and ensure all training takes place in well-ventilated outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces, which is perfect for the Bali climate. We also teach you how to set up a safe 'spray zone' in your own school environment, covering the correct disposal of cans, storage of flammable materials, and how to manage student movement during a live spray session.

Will I get to complete a full graffiti piece during the session?

Yes, we believe in 'learning by doing.' You won't just be watching; you'll be creating your own large-scale piece. This hands-on approach ensures you understand the physical challenges your students might face, such as finger fatigue or paint drips. By experiencing the process from start to finish, you'll be much better equipped to troubleshoot problems and inspire your students during your workshops in Denpasar.

How do I book and what are the costs for the training?

Getting a price estimate is easy! Because we tailor each session to your specific needs—whether it's a 1-on-1 session or a whole department training—prices vary based on group size and location. You can use our online Cost Calculator for a quick idea, or simply send us an enquiry for a personalised quote. Remember, there's no upfront payment required; you only pay after the training is finished!

Step by step

Intro and safety briefing: We kick things off with a quick look at the history of street art and a vital safety talk regarding gear and environment.
Tool familiarisation: Learn about different spray paint brands, pressure types, and how various 'caps' (nozzles) change the width and texture of the spray.
Basic technique practice: Get your hands on the cans! You'll practice making clean lines, dots, and fills on a practice surface under expert guidance.
Lettering and style: Our artists teach you the foundations of graffiti lettering, focusing on structure, flow, and how to help students find their own 'tag'.
Advanced effects: Learn the 'tricks of the trade' like fading, highlights, 3D shadows, and outlines that make a piece pop off the wall.
Pedagogical workshop: This is where we discuss how to translate these skills into a lesson plan, including timing, student management, and curriculum links.
The final masterpiece: Apply everything you've learned to a final canvas or mural, giving you a sense of accomplishment and a portfolio piece.
Review and Q&A: We wrap up with a feedback session, answering any specific questions about bringing graffiti into your specific teaching environment.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Denpasar is the pulsing heart of Bali, and while many think of traditional Legong dances and intricate wood carvings, the city has a thriving contemporary street art scene. From the hidden murals in the alleys of Renon to the vibrant displays near Sanur, street art is becoming a key part of the city's modern cultural identity. By bringing graffiti into your school, you're tapping into a local movement that resonates with the youth of today.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Bali hosts several annual street art "jams" where local and international artists collaborate to transform grey walls into tropical masterpieces? It's a community that celebrates the "gotong royong" (mutual cooperation) spirit of the island!

Our training sessions take advantage of Denpasar's creative atmosphere, often taking place in airy, inspiring locations that reflect the island's unique blend of tradition and modernity. 🎨✨
