Do I need to be an artist to join the art teacher training in Medan?

No prior graffiti experience is required! Our Medan training is designed to take you from 'zero to hero'. Whether you're a fine arts specialist or a primary school teacher with an interest in street culture, we provide all the fundamental techniques. Our goal is to give you the confidence to handle a spray can and the pedagogical tools to teach others safely and effectively.

How do you handle safety during the workshop?

We take safety very seriously. The training covers the correct use of high-quality respiratory masks, nitrile gloves, and protective clothing. We also teach you how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated indoor workspace for your students. We’ll guide you on managing group dynamics to ensure that the painting process remains orderly, clean, and environmentally conscious while using aerosol products.

Can I integrate these sessions into my existing school curriculum?

Absolutely! One of the core components of our professional development is showing you how to link graffiti to history, social studies, and sustainability. We help you draft lesson plans that explore the evolution of street art from ancient times to modern Medan, and how to use it as a tool for community engagement. It’s a great way to meet curriculum standards in a fresh, exciting way.

How long does the training typically last?

Our standard professional development sessions in Medan generally last between 2 to 3 hours. This timeframe allows for a balance of theory, safety briefings, and plenty of hands-on practice. If you are looking for a more intensive multi-day certification or a deeper dive into specific mural techniques, we can certainly customise an extended itinerary that fits your professional development schedule.

What kind of materials and resources will I receive?

Every participant in our Medan training receives a comprehensive 'Teacher's Kit' mindset. While the physical materials used during the day (paint, masks, caps) are provided, you will also gain access to our digital resources. This includes instructional guides, safety checklists, and project templates that you can print out and use immediately in your own classroom or community workshops.

Gear and safety briefing: Learn the essential safety protocols, including how to fit masks correctly and manage your artistic workspace safely.
The 'Mastering the Can' technique: Get hands-on with the spray cans, learning about pressure control, distance, and different nozzle (cap) effects.

Layering and colour blending: Discover the secrets of professional gradients and sharp outlines that make graffiti pieces pop off the surface.
Pedagogical workshop design: We transition from 'doing' to 'teaching', showing you how to structure a 90-minute session for a classroom full of students.
Collaborative mural project: Work together with fellow educators to create a communal piece, practicing the teamwork skills you'll eventually teach.
