Is the graffiti workshop safe for individuals with special needs?

Safety is our absolute priority. We use low-pressure spray cans that are easier to handle and provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and ponchos. Our artists are trained to supervise the session closely, ensuring everyone stays safe while having a blast. We also choose workshop locations in Medan that are accessible and provide plenty of ventilation to keep the environment comfortable for all participants.

Can you accommodate wheelchair users or those with limited mobility?

Absolutely! Our Medan workshops are designed to be inclusive and adaptable. Whether it is adjusting the height of the boards for wheelchair users or using different types of caps to make spraying easier for those with limited motor skills, we do whatever it takes to ensure everyone can participate. We believe street art is for every body and every mind, and we pride ourselves on our flexibility.

Do participants need any prior art skills?

No artistic experience is required at all! Our professional artists guide the group through every step, from basic lines to filling in colours. We focus on the 'process' rather than the 'perfection'. Many participants find the tactile nature of the spray cans and the vibrant colours to be a wonderful sensory experience, regardless of the final artistic outcome. It is all about the joy of creating!

How long does a typical session last?

Our special needs workshops in Medan typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours. We find this is the 'sweet spot' for maintaining high energy and engagement without causing fatigue. However, we are completely flexible. If you feel your group would benefit from a shorter session with more breaks, we can easily customise the schedule to suit your specific requirements and energy levels.

What is the minimum or maximum group size?

We usually require a minimum group size to get the party started, but we are very accommodating for private sessions. For larger groups, we bring in additional professional artists and backup staff to ensure everyone gets the individual attention they deserve. Because we have local artists in North Sumatra, we can scale our team up or down to match your specific group size perfectly.

Do I need to pay anything upfront to book?

Not at all! One of the best things about Graffitifun is our 'no-stress' booking policy. You can book your Medan workshop today to secure your date and artist, and you only need to pay after the workshop is completed. We want the entire process to be as easy and risk-free as possible for you and your organisation. Just focus on getting excited for the art!

The experience

Street art is a powerful tool for expression, especially for those who might communicate differently. Our workshops in Medan are more than just painting; they are about building a sense of achievement and belonging. 🌟

Sensory Engagement: The texture of the spray, the vibrant colours, and the physical movement make this a fantastic sensory activity.
Confidence Boost: There are no mistakes in graffiti! Seeing a massive, colourful piece of art they helped create gives participants a huge sense of pride. 🏆
Tailored Pace: We don't rush. Our Medan artists are patient and skilled at adapting to the rhythm of the group.
Social Connection: Collaborating on a mural encourages teamwork and positive social interaction in a low-pressure environment.
No Stress Booking: With no upfront payment and backup artists ready to go, your event is guaranteed to happen. 💪

Step by step

Initial consultation: Reach out to us! We’ll chat about your group’s specific needs, the number of participants, and any physical or sensory requirements we should keep in mind.
Custom plan creation: Our Medan team designs a workshop flow that matches your group's pace, choosing the right caps and themes to make it a success.
Safety briefing: On the day, we start with a friendly demo. We show everyone how to use the gear and ensure masks and gloves are fitted comfortably.
Basic techniques: We start with 'tagging' and simple lines. It’s a great way for participants to get used to the vibration and sound of the spray cans.
Design & layout: Together, we sketch a vibrant design on the canvas or wall. We can create a giant collaborative mural or individual pieces—it's up to you!
Colouring in: This is the best part! Everyone grabs their favourite colours and starts filling in the shapes. It’s a high-energy, sensory-rich experience.
Finishing touches: Our pro artists help add those sharp outlines and 'highlights' that make the artwork pop and look truly professional.
The big reveal: We take a moment to celebrate the group's hard work. It’s a fantastic opportunity for photos and a huge boost in confidence for everyone involved.

Good to know

We’ve thought of everything so you don't have to! Our Medan workshops are fully equipped for a seamless experience:

Group Sizes: Small groups for focused attention or large community builds—we scale to fit.
Materials: We provide professional-grade spray cans, canvases, and full protective gear (masks, gloves, ponchos).
Safety: Certified artists present at all times; we prioritize well-ventilated, accessible locations.
Accessibility: We can set up in your own facility or at a chosen local spot in Medan.

Local culture

Medan is a city exploding with character, from the historic Maimun Palace to the bustling streets of Kesawan. But beyond the landmarks, Medan has a growing, soulful street art scene that reflects the city's diverse and energetic spirit. Bringing our special needs workshop here feels natural—the city itself is a canvas of resilience and vibrant expression! 🏙️

Fun Fact: Medan is famous for its "Becak" (motorised trishaws). Many of these are custom-painted by local artists, making them moving pieces of street art that inspired early graffiti culture in North Sumatra! 🏍️🎨

We love working in the "Paris of Sumatra," taking inspiration from the local flora and the dynamic urban energy to help our participants create art that feels connected to their home city.
