Do I need previous graffiti experience to join the teacher training?

No prior experience with spray paint is necessary! Our Esch-sur-Alzette training is specifically designed to take you from a complete beginner to a confident instructor. We focus on the fundamental 'can control' techniques, safety protocols, and lettering basics that you can easily pass on to your students. Our professional artists guide you through every stroke, ensuring you feel comfortable before you ever lead a class.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for a school environment?

Absolutely. Safety is our number one priority, especially in an educational setting. We cover everything from the correct use of high-quality respiratory masks and gloves to site preparation and ventilation. You will learn how to set up a safe 'spray zone' in a school environment and how to manage a group of students safely while using aerosol products. We provide all the necessary PPE during the training.

What materials are included in the professional development session?

We bring everything! The session includes professional-grade spray paint, a variety of nozzles (caps), protective clothing, masks, gloves, and large canvases or plastic film for practice. We also provide educational handouts and a digital 'teacher kit' that you can use to plan your future lessons. You just need to wear old clothes and bring your enthusiasm to learn something new!

Will I receive a certificate after completing the training?

Yes, we provide all participants with a Graffitifun Certificate of Completion. This certificate verifies that you have undergone professional training in graffiti techniques, safety management, and street art pedagogy. It’s a fantastic addition to your professional portfolio and demonstrates your commitment to bringing modern, inclusive art forms into the classroom or community centre.

Can the training take place at my own school or studio?

We are very flexible! While we have a dedicated space, we can also come to your school or community centre in Esch-sur-Alzette or nearby towns like Differdange and Dudelange. If we work at your location, we use mobile graffiti walls or protective plastic sheeting to ensure the site remains clean and professional. We can adapt the training to suit your specific facilities.

How long is the training session and can it be customised?

Standard teacher training sessions usually last between 3 to 5 hours. This allows enough time for the theoretical background, safety briefing, hands-on practice, and a final collaborative piece. However, we can customise the duration to fit your professional development (PD) schedule or 'Journée Pédagogique'. Just let us know your requirements and we will build a programme that works for you.

How does the 'no upfront payment' policy work?

Unlike other workshops, we don't require any upfront payment or deposits to secure your booking. We believe in the quality of our training, so you only pay after the workshop has been completed. This makes it much easier for schools and organisations in Luxembourg to process payments through their standard accounting departments without the hassle of advance invoices.

Ready-to-use resources: Receive lesson plans and technical guides so you can start teaching your first workshop immediately. 📚
Risk-free booking: With no upfront payment and our 100% satisfaction guarantee, your school’s budget is in safe hands.

Step by step

Introduction to street art culture: We start with a brief history of graffiti, moving from its roots in NYC to the vibrant scene here in Luxembourg.
Safety and equipment mastery: Learn about different types of paint, eco-friendly options, and how to properly fit respiratory gear for yourself and your students.
Mastering 'can control': Practice the basic movements—lines, dots, and fades—using professional-grade spray cans and various nozzles.
Sketching and scaling: Learn how to translate a small drawing onto a large wall using the 'grid' or 'doodle' method, essential for teaching large groups.
Lettering and style: Dive into 'Tags', 'Throw-ups', and 'Pieces', focusing on how to guide students in developing their own unique artistic signatures.
The 'Teaching Module': We simulate a classroom scenario where you practice explaining techniques and managing group dynamics during a creative flow.
Collaborative mural: Work together on a final large-scale piece, applying all the techniques learned throughout the day.
Cleanup and maintenance: Learn how to properly store materials and dispose of cans responsibly, leaving your workspace spotless.
Certification and wrap-up: Receive your certificate and a digital resource pack to help you launch your first graffiti lesson!

Local culture

Esch-sur-Alzette isn't just Luxembourg's second city; it's a powerhouse of industrial heritage turned urban canvas. Since its time as the European Capital of Culture, Esch has embraced street art like nowhere else in the Grand Duchy. From the murals decorating the streets of the Brill district to the creative vibes at Kulturfabrik, the city provides the perfect backdrop for your professional development. 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Esch-sur-Alzette is home to some of the largest legal graffiti walls in the region? The city’s transition from 'Iron Metropolis' to a cultural hotspot makes it the ideal place to learn an art form that celebrates raw energy and transformation. While you're here, you're never far from inspiration, with nearby art scenes in Differdange and Dudelange adding to the southern Luxembourg creative corridor. 🇱🇺
