Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the teacher training?

Not at all! Our art teacher training in Koforidua is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are a fine arts master or someone who hasn't picked up a spray can since school, our professionals guide you through the basics. We focus on teaching you the methodology and safety protocols so you can confidently pass these skills on to your students regardless of your personal artistic background.

How long does the professional development session last?

The training usually lasts between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the specific curriculum we choose for your group. We dive deep into the history of street art, hands-on spray techniques, and classroom management strategies. By the end of the session, you'll have completed your own piece and feel fully prepared to lead a classroom of eager students through their first graffiti experience.

What materials are included in the workshop?

Graffitifun provides everything! We bring premium low-pressure spray cans (which are easier for beginners to control), respiratory masks, gloves, protective suits, and the surfaces for painting. You just need to show up in comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty. We handle the heavy lifting and the cleanup so you can focus on learning.

Is spray painting safe to do with school-aged children?

Safety is our absolute priority. We provide high-quality FFP2 or FFP3 masks and nitrile gloves to all participants. We also teach you how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated workspace for your students. We'll cover important topics like proper ventilation, fire safety, and age-appropriate handling of materials to ensure your future school workshops are 100% safe and compliant.

Can this training help with student engagement and inclusion?

Absolutely! Street art is an incredible tool for reaching 'at-risk' youth or students who find traditional fine arts too restrictive. Our training includes tips on how to use graffiti to teach teamwork, respect for public property, and self-expression. It’s a fantastic way to boost engagement and provide a sense of accomplishment for students who might struggle in a standard academic setting.

Where in Koforidua do the workshops take place?

We are very flexible! We can host the training at a designated creative space in Koforidua, or we can bring the entire setup directly to your school or community centre. As long as we have a well-ventilated area or an outdoor space, we can transform it into a professional street art studio for the day. This convenience makes it much easier for departments to train together.

How do I handle the payment and booking for my group?

No upfront payment is required when you book your session. We believe in the quality of our training, so you only pay after the workshop is completed. Our goal is 100% satisfaction, and our backup artist policy ensures that your training will never be cancelled due to a facilitator being unavailable. You can book with total peace of mind.

Step by step

Intro to urban culture: We start with a brief history of graffiti, moving from 'vandalism' to a respected global art form, giving you the context needed for classroom lessons.
Safety and setup: Learn how to prep your space, manage your materials, and ensure every student is wearing their protective gear correctly.
The anatomy of a spray can: We teach you about different 'caps' (nozzles), pressure control, and how to hold the can for maximum precision.
Basic techniques: Master the essentials—lines, dots, fades, and fills. These are the building blocks you'll be teaching your students.
Lettering and style: Our artists guide you through creating 'throw-ups' and 'pieces', focusing on how to help students develop their own signature tag.
Collaborative mural: Work together on a large-scale project to experience the teamwork dynamics you'll facilitate in your own school.
Curriculum integration: We discuss how to link street art to other subjects like history, social studies, and environmental science.
The clean-up protocol: Learn the most efficient ways to pack up and store materials so your art department stays organised and pristine.

Local culture

Koforidua, or 'K-dua' as we affectionately call it, is a city brimming with hidden creative energy. Known for its famous bead market and the lush greenery of the Eastern Region, it is the perfect backdrop for an explosion of urban art. While the city has a rich history of traditional crafts, the youth are increasingly looking toward modern forms of expression. By bringing art teacher training to Koforidua, we’re bridging the gap between heritage and the contemporary street scene.

Fun fact: Did you know Koforidua is often called 'the city of flowers'? Let’s add some permanent, colourful blooms to that reputation with some stunning street art murals that never fade! 🌸

As you stroll through neighborhoods like Okace or near the All Nations University, you can see the potential for mural spots everywhere. Our training focuses on how to channel that local 'K-dua' spirit into professional-grade spray painting projects. ✨
