Do I need previous graffiti experience to take this training?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is required for our teacher training in Roskilde. Our professional artists are experts at breaking down complex techniques into reachable, 'teachable' steps. We focus on building your confidence from the ground up, ensuring you feel comfortable holding a spray can before you ever have to demonstrate it to a classroom of teenagers. It’s all about the process, not just the final piece.

Is spray painting safe for a school environment?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respirators, gloves, and protective suits for all participants. During the training, we specifically cover how to set up a safe outdoor 'graffiti zone' at your school, how to manage paint fumes, and how to supervise students to ensure everyone stays clean and safe. You will leave the session with a full safety checklist to use in your own lessons.

Can I really do this in a regular classroom setting?

Yes! While we love creating large-scale murals, we also teach you how to adapt graffiti techniques for smaller canvases, wood panels, or even digital platforms. We provide tips on how to manage a graffiti project within a standard 45-60 minute school period and how to scale the activities based on your school’s available outdoor space and budget.

What materials are included in the professional development session?

Every Roskilde teacher training session includes high-pressure and low-pressure spray cans, a variety of nozzles (caps), protective gear, professional-grade masks, and practice surfaces. We also provide digital resources, including lesson plan templates and a 'Graffiti History 101' guide that you can project in your classroom. You just need to bring your enthusiasm and some old clothes!

How does this training help with student engagement?

Graffiti is a powerful tool for reaching 'hard-to-engage' students. It levels the playing field, as it doesn't require traditional drawing skills. Our training includes a specific module on using street art to discuss social issues, identity, and community. Many teachers find that after a graffiti project, students who were previously disengaged in art class become the most passionate and focused participants.

What happens if I need to cancel or change my booking?

We understand that school budgets and schedules can be tricky. That’s why we offer a 'no upfront payment' policy—you only pay after the workshop is completed. If you need to reschedule due to school events or weather, our backup artist system ensures we can almost always find a new date that works for you without the stress of a total cancellation.

The experience

Why choose our graffiti training for your next professional development day? It’s not just about making a mess; it’s about mastering a medium that speaks to the modern student. Here’s why educators in Roskilde love working with us:

Boost Student Engagement: Learn a medium that students actually think is "cool"—instantly breaking down barriers in the classroom. 🎤
Professional Artist Mentors: Our trainers aren't just teachers; they are active street artists with years of technical experience.
Pedagogical Integration: We don't just teach you to spray; we show you how to link graffiti to the Danish national curriculum.
Zero Stress Planning: We provide all the materials and safety gear, so you can focus entirely on learning.
Confidence Building: Gain the practical skills to answer student questions and troubleshoot techniques on the fly. 💪
Networking: Connect with other Roskilde-based educators who are looking to innovate their teaching methods.

Step by step

Introduction to tools: Learn about the different types of spray cans, pressures, and the importance of 'caps' (nozzles) in achieving different stroke widths.
Safety protocol: Master the setup of a safe working environment, including proper mask fitting and ventilation management for student groups.
Basic strokes and 'Can Control': Practice horizontal lines, dots, and fades to get a feel for the medium under the guidance of a pro.
Lettering and styles: Move from simple 'tags' to 'bubble letters' and 'blockbusters', understanding the anatomy of graffiti typography.
Stencil making: Learn how to teach students to create intricate designs using hand-cut stencils—a great entry point for less confident drawers.
Canvassing and surfaces: Experiment with different backgrounds, from cardboard and wood to temporary plastic wrap (cellograff) walls.
Curriculum integration: A brainstorming session on how to link graffiti to history, social studies, and traditional art theory.
The Masterpiece: Work on a collaborative mural to experience the teamwork dynamics you'll eventually lead in your own school.
Debrief and resources: Final Q&A and access to our digital 'Teacher Toolkit' to help you launch your first school project with ease.

Local culture

Roskilde isn't just about Viking ships and cathedrals; it’s a city with a pulse that beats for contemporary culture. Since the legendary Roskilde Festival began, the city has been a magnet for alternative expression and street culture. Our training sessions often draw inspiration from the 'Musicon' district—a creative powerhouse where the architecture itself screams innovation. We don't just teach you art; we connect you to the local urban vibe that your students are already seeing on the streets of Roskilde. 🔥

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Roskilde Festival’s "Graffiti Zone" is one of the largest open-air galleries in Northern Europe? Every year, artists from around the world transform hundreds of metres of wooden walls—the very same energy we bring to our teacher training!
