The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your Port Elizabeth learners? It’s more than just painting on walls—it’s about building confidence and community. 🏆

  • Boosts creative confidence: Students learn that there are no "mistakes" in street art, only new directions for their design. 🎨
  • Inclusive for all: Unlike traditional sports or academics, graffiti is a "level playing field" where every student can shine.
  • Teamwork in action: Large murals require students to communicate, plan, and work together toward a massive goal. 🤝
  • School spirit: Create a permanent or semi-permanent mural that beautifies your school halls and leaves a legacy.
  • Curriculum aligned: Our sessions can be tailored to meet Life Orientation or Visual Arts curriculum requirements.
  • Zero risk booking: With no upfront payment and our "fun guarantee," it’s a stress-free win for teachers. 🔥

Step by step

  1. Introduction & safety: We start with a high-energy intro about street art culture and a vital safety briefing on how to use the gear correctly.
  2. The tag creator: Students learn the basics of "tagging" — the foundation of all graffiti — and how to turn their name into a unique logo.
  3. Can control: Our artists demonstrate how to hold the spray can, control the pressure, and create different line widths like a pro.
  4. Sketching the design: Before hitting the boards, students sketch their ideas on paper to plan their colours and layout.
  5. The big outline: Students move to the large-scale boards or canvases to "fill in" their first professional-size letters.
  6. Adding the "flavour": This is where the magic happens! We teach 3D shadows, highlights, and "splatter" effects to make the art pop.
  7. Sharpening up: Using a bold outline colour, students clean up their lines to give the piece that crisp, professional finish.
  8. Group masterpiece: If requested, the class works together on a collaborative mural that can be displayed back at the school.
  9. Photo op & cleanup: We wrap up with a group photo of the crew and their work, leaving the area spotless and the students inspired.

Local culture

Street art in Port Elizabeth

Port Elizabeth, or Gqeberha, is a city built on grit and heart, and its street art scene is growing faster than a PE breeze! From the iconic murals along Route 67 to the hidden gems in Central, the city is a canvas of South African heritage. Our workshops tap into this local energy, teaching students that their voices matter in the urban landscape.

Fun Fact: Did you know Port Elizabeth is home to one of South Africa’s most famous public art journeys? Route 67 features 67 public artworks, symbolising the 67 years Nelson Mandela dedicated to the freedom of South Africa. Our workshops often draw inspiration from this blend of history and modern street art. 🎨

Whether your school is in Summerstrand, Mill Park, or the Northern Areas, we bring the artistic spirit of the Bay right to your doorstep. We’re all about celebrating the local "Lekker" vibe through every spray can.
