How long does a typical communion graffiti workshop last?

Most Newcastle communion graffiti workshops last between 1.5 and 2 hours. This is the 'sweet spot' for keeping energy levels high without the kids getting tired. We start with a quick safety briefing and technique demo, followed by plenty of hands-on spraying time. If you have a larger group or want a more intricate mural, we can certainly extend the session to suit your party schedule.

What should the kids wear so they don't ruin their communion outfits?

Don't worry, we've got you covered! We provide high-quality disposable overalls, gloves, and shoe covers for all participants. While our water-based spray paints are much easier to manage than traditional aerosols, we still recommend that the guests wear 'play clothes' or something they don't mind getting a little dusty, just in case they get a bit too enthusiastic with their masterpieces!

Is graffiti art safe for children and young teenagers?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paints specifically chosen for workshop environments. Every participant is guided by an experienced street artist who ensures everyone follows safe spraying distance and technique. We provide all necessary protective gear, and for younger groups, we provide constant hands-on supervision to ensure the only thing getting 'bombed' is the canvas!

Can you host the workshop at our home or a specific venue in Newcastle?

While we have several go-to spots around Newcastle (including indoor areas for rainy days), we are fully mobile! If you have a backyard with enough ventilation or a hired community hall in areas like Merewether or Hamilton, we can bring the entire studio to you. We just need a bit of space and some fresh air to let the creativity flow safely.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

For a communion celebration, we usually recommend a minimum of 8 to 10 participants to get a great group vibe. However, we are very flexible! Whether you are hosting an intimate family gathering or a massive celebration with the whole class, we can scale our artist team to ensure everyone gets the attention and guidance they need to create something epic.

Do I need to pay a deposit to book the date?

We believe in total peace of mind for parents. You don't have to pay a cent upfront to secure your date. We trust our clients and focus on delivering a 100% fun experience first. You simply settle the payment after the workshop is completed and you've seen the smiles on everyone's faces. It's our 'satisfaction guaranteed' way of doing business!

The experience

A communion is a big deal, and the party should be just as special. Choosing a graffiti workshop in Newy means you’re picking an activity that bridges the gap between 'kid stuff' and 'cool teen' vibes. Here is why it’s the best choice for your Newcastle celebration:

Zero Stress: We handle the setup, the teaching, and the cleanup. You just provide the space and the snacks! 🍕
Everyone is an Artist: You don't need to be 'good at drawing' to make something epic with a spray can. Our pros make sure everyone succeeds.
Best Party Favours: Forget plastic whistles; every guest takes home their very own custom-made street art canvas. 🏆
Burn off Energy: It’s a physical, hands-on activity that keeps kids engaged and moving instead of staring at screens.
Safety First: We use high-quality gear and have backup artists ready to go, ensuring your event goes off without a hitch. 💪

Step by step

Pick your date: Check your communion schedule and get in touch to see if our Newcastle artists are available.
Choose your vibe: Decide if you want a collaborative group mural or individual canvases for every guest to take home.
The safety brief: On the day, our pro artists start with a fun intro on safety and how to handle the cans properly.
Practice runs: Kids start by practicing basic lines and circles on a practice wall to get a feel for the pressure.
Sketching the dream: We help the birthday boy or girl (or communion star!) sketch out their big design or 'tag'.
Fill and flare: This is where the colour happens! We teach the kids how to fill shapes and add those cool 'glow' effects.
Add the outlines: The artists help with the tricky 'clean up' lines to make the artwork really pop like professional street art.
The grand reveal: Take group photos with the finished masterpiece—perfect for sharing with the family!
Take-home art: Every participant leaves with their own spray-painted canvas as the ultimate Newcastle party favour.

Good to know

We've got the logistics sorted so you can focus on the celebration. Our Newcastle workshops are fully inclusive:

Duration: Typically 1.5 to 2 hours of non-stop creativity.
Group Sizes: Perfect for groups of 8 up to 50+ (we scale our staff accordingly).
What’s Included: All spray paint, canvases, protective overalls, gloves, and professional instruction.
Weather: We have indoor backup options and 'rain-check' artists available so the party never gets washed out.
Safety: We use specialised low-solvent paint and provide full PPE for every participant. 🛡️

Local culture

Newcastle isn't just a coal port anymore; it’s a living gallery! From the iconic murals in the CBD to the hidden gems in the suburbs, Newy has a grit and creativity that’s unmatched. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, giving your kids a taste of the culture that makes our city so vibrant. We celebrate the local DIY attitude—teaching the next generation that creativity doesn't have to stay inside the lines. 🌊

Fun Fact: Newcastle is home to the 'Big Picture Fest,' an international street art festival that has transformed many of our city's blank walls into world-class masterpieces. Who knows? The next big Newcastle artist might be sitting at your communion table right now!
