Do I need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Our pop-up events in Valmiera are designed specifically for beginners. Most of our participants have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists will guide you through every step, from basic nozzle control and line work to advanced shading and filling techniques. You will be amazed at how quickly you can create something professional-looking with just a bit of expert guidance and the right tools. We create a supportive, high-energy environment where 'mistakes' are just part of the art!

Is the graffiti workshop safe for everyone?

Safety is our number one priority. We provide all necessary protective gear, including high-quality FFP2 masks to ensure you aren't breathing in fumes, as well as gloves and protective overalls to keep your clothes clean. We use professional-grade spray paints and always ensure our pop-up locations have excellent ventilation. Our instructors are trained to manage groups safely, ensuring everyone follows the proper techniques for handling the equipment while having the time of their lives.

What should I wear to the workshop?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on. While we provide full-body protective suits and gloves, spray paint has a way of finding its way onto shoes or sleeves if you get really enthusiastic! It's best to leave your favourite designer gear at home for the day. If you have long hair, bringing a hair tie to keep it back while you work is also a great idea.

What is included in the price per person?

The price usually includes everything you need to become a street artist for the day. This covers the hire of the professional graffiti artists, all spray paint cans in a huge variety of colours, protective gear (overalls, masks, gloves), and the surface you will be painting on. For pop-up events, we often provide large boards or canvases that you can keep. There are no hidden costs; we want you to focus entirely on your creative flow!

How long does a pop-up workshop last?

A standard graffiti pop-up session in Valmiera typically lasts between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This includes a safety briefing, an introduction to the history of street art, a demonstration of techniques by our pros, and then plenty of hands-on time for you to design and paint your masterpiece. We find this is the 'sweet spot' where you have enough time to get into the zone without your arm getting too tired from all that spraying!

What is the minimum or maximum group size?

One of the best things about Graffitifun is our flexibility! We can host pop-up events for small groups starting from around 10 people, all the way up to large-scale activations for hundreds of participants throughout a day. Because we have a large team of backup artists across the region, we can scale the event to meet your needs, ensuring there are always enough instructors to give everyone personal attention and guidance.

Where in Valmiera do these workshops take place?

Since we are a pop-up service, we are incredibly flexible! We can set up at your office car park, a local community centre, a festival ground, or even an indoor space with proper ventilation. If you don't have a venue in mind in Valmiera, just let us know. We have experience working in various spots around the city and can help suggest or find the perfect urban backdrop for your creative experience.

Step by step

Arrival and meet-up: Gather your group at our chosen Valmiera location where our artists will be waiting with all the gear ready to go.
Intro to street culture: We kick off with a brief, high-energy talk about the history of graffiti and the evolution of street art styles.
The 'can control' demo: Watch our pros demonstrate how to hold the can, swap nozzles (caps), and create different line thicknesses.
Sketching your vision: Grab a marker and plan your design on your canvas or board. Don't worry, we'll help you refine your ideas!
Outline and fill: Start with the 'first' lines and then learn how to fill in large areas efficiently without using too much paint.
The art of fading: Our artists show you how to blend colours and create those iconic gradients that make graffiti pop.
Details and highlights: Add the finishing touches—shadows, shines, and 3D effects—to make your piece stand out.
The big reveal: Step back and admire the collective gallery of work created by your group!

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Valmiera is a fantastic blend of old-world Latvian charm and modern industrial spirit. Nestled along the banks of the Gauja River, it’s a city that appreciates both tradition and innovation. While you might know it for its delicious beer or the iconic Valmiera Theatre, there is a growing appreciation for contemporary art in the region. By hosting a pop-up graffiti event here, we’re tapping into that local 'can-do' attitude and adding a splash of urban colour to the city’s green landscapes.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Gauja River is the only large river in Latvia that begins and ends its journey within the country? Just like the river, your creativity at our workshop starts from a deep local soul and flows into something truly unique! 🎨

From the industrial zones to the modern sports centres, Valmiera offers a variety of unique backdrops that make a graffiti pop-up feel right at home. We love the energy of this city and can't wait to see what the locals create when they get a spray can in their hands! 🚀
