Do students need any previous art experience?

Absolutely! No prior artistic experience is needed to have a blast. Our professional artists are masters at breaking down complex mural techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on the 'fun' in 'Graffitifun', ensuring every secondary school student in Accra feels confident holding a spray can. By the end of the session, even those who claim they 'can't draw a stick figure' will be amazed at the vibrant street art they've helped create.

Is the graffiti workshop safe for teenagers?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep everyone clean and safe. We use specialized low-pressure spray cans that are easier to control, and all workshops are led by experienced professionals who supervise the group closely. Whether we are working on canvases or a designated wall in Accra, we ensure a controlled environment where students can express their creativity without any risks.

How long does a typical workshop last?

A standard secondary school workshop usually lasts between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, and plenty of hands-on practice. We can adjust the timing to fit your school's timetable or a specific event schedule. It’s a fast-paced, high-energy experience that keeps students engaged from the first shake of the can to the final reveal.

Where is the workshop held—do we come to you?

The beauty of our Accra workshops is their flexibility! We can provide large canvases or wooden panels that students can work on, which can then be displayed in the school hallways. Alternatively, if your school has a legal wall or a designated area for a mural, we can transform that space permanently. We bring all the materials to you, including the paint, so the setup is entirely up to your school's facilities.

Can you accommodate large groups or entire year levels?

Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and collaborative, making them perfect for large groups. We typically work with class-sized groups (20-30 students) per artist to ensure everyone gets personal guidance. For larger year groups or entire secondary schools in Accra, we can deploy multiple artists and set up several stations. This allows hundreds of students to participate throughout the day while maintaining a high-quality, interactive experience for everyone involved.

Do we have to pay in advance?

One of the biggest perks of booking with Graffitifun is our 'no-worry' policy. You don't need to make any upfront payments to secure your date. We believe in the quality of our service, so you simply pay after the workshop is completed and you're 100% satisfied with the results. This makes the administrative process for schools in Ghana much smoother and completely risk-free for your budget.

How does this benefit the school curriculum?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for exploring identity, social issues, and local culture. Many Accra schools use our workshops to complement the Art & Design curriculum or as part of a Transition Year programme. It’s an effective way to teach students about legal vs. illegal art, public space, and community pride. Plus, it’s a brilliant team-building exercise that helps teenagers develop communication skills while working together on a massive, shared piece of art.

The experience

Why choose a graffiti workshop for your students in Accra? It’s more than just spray painting; it’s a powerful educational tool that breaks down barriers. Here’s why schools love working with us:

Boosts creative confidence: Even the most 'non-artistic' students find their flow when they realise there are no mistakes in graffiti, only layers! 🚀
Hands-on teamwork: Creating a large-scale mural requires collaboration, communication, and collective pride.
Cultural relevance: Graffiti is the visual language of modern youth; it connects the curriculum to the world outside the school gates. 🌍
Stress relief: The physical act of spray painting is incredibly therapeutic and a great way for teens to de-stress. 🧘‍♂️
Professional guidance: Students learn from real-world artists who share insights into the creative industries.
Zero risk for schools: With our pay-after-service policy and backup artist guarantee, your event is in safe hands. 🎉

Step by step

The intro & demo: We kick things off with a high-energy intro about street art culture. Our artists show off some pro moves to get the students hyped! 🎤
Design & sketching: Students brainstorm their ideas and sketch out their concepts on paper, learning how to structure 'tags' and 'throw-ups'.
Safety first: Everyone gets suited up in protective gear and learns the proper way to handle and shake a spray can. 🛡️
The first lines: Under the guidance of our pros, students move to the canvas or wall to practice basic nozzle control and line work.
Filling & fading: This is where the magic happens! Students learn how to blend colours and create those iconic graffiti gradients.
Adding the outline: We teach the secret to making art pop—the sharp black outline that brings the whole piece together. ✨
Final details: Time for 'highlights' and 'bits'—those tiny details that turn a good piece into a masterpiece.
The big reveal: We step back, drop the cans, and admire the collective work of art created by the students. 🏆
Clean up: We handle the tidy-up, leaving the school as clean as we found it (except for the amazing new art, of course!).

Local culture

Accra is a city that pulses with artistic energy, from the vibrant murals of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival in Jamestown to the contemporary galleries popping up across the city. Street art isn't just decoration here; it's a storytelling medium that reflects the spirit of Ghana. Our workshops tap into this local heritage, encouraging students to draw inspiration from their surroundings—be it the bustling street markets or the iconic Adinkra symbols. 🇬🇭

Fun Fact: Accra is home to some of Africa's most influential street artists! The city's walls often serve as an open-air museum, celebrating everything from local legends to modern social movements. 🎤

By bringing a graffiti workshop to your secondary school, you're connecting students with a global art movement that has a deep, rhythmic heart right here in the Greater Accra Region. We love helping the next generation of Ghanaian 'writers' find their style! 🔥
