Step by step

  1. Intro & inspiration: Our professional graffiti artists arrive at your school in Kananga and kick things off with a high-energy intro about street art culture.
  2. Safety first: Every student gets kitted out in protective gear (masks, gloves, and overalls) while we explain the 'golden rules' of using spray cans.
  3. Sketching the vision: Students grab paper and pencils to brainstorm their tags and designs, learning how to turn ideas into bold graffiti letters.
  4. Can control 101: We move to the wall! Students practice basic lines, dots, and pressure control to get a feel for the spray cans.
  5. The big fill: Once the outlines are ready on the main mural, the group works together to fill in the vibrant colours and gradients.
  6. Outlining & details: This is where the art pops! We teach students how to add sharp outlines and high-contrast highlights.
  7. The finishing touch: Adding shadows, 3D effects, and "style bits" (like bubbles or arrows) to give the mural that professional 'street' look.
  8. Group photo & reveal: We step back to admire the collective masterpiece and snap some epic photos of the crew with their work.
  9. Clean up: We handle all the site clearance, leaving nothing behind but an incredible piece of art and some very happy students.

Local culture

Street art in Kananga

Kananga is a city with a deep soul and a growing creative heartbeat. As the capital of the Kasaï-Central province, it’s a place where tradition meets a new generation of expressive thinkers. We love bringing street art here because the youth of Kananga have so much to say! Whether your school is near the Lulua River or closer to the city centre, our workshops tap into the local energy. We often encourage students to incorporate Congolese patterns or local 'Kanangese' flair into their pieces, bridging the gap between global urban culture and local identity. 🌍

Fun Fact: Did you know that the name Kananga comes from a local word for 'a place of peace'? It’s the perfect setting for students to collaborate peacefully on a massive piece of public art that celebrates their community! ✨
