Are the graffiti workshops safe for secondary school students?

Absolutely! Safety is our top priority in Vantaa. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective overalls to keep everyone safe and clean. Our instructors are professional artists who give a thorough safety briefing before anyone touches a spray can. We use low-odour, high-quality paints, and we always ensure the workshop area is well-ventilated or outdoors to keep the environment comfortable for all students and teachers.

How long does a typical workshop last?

A standard secondary school session in Vantaa usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a proper introduction, sketching and design phase, and the actual painting on the wall or canvases. We can also adjust the timing to fit into your specific school timetable or double-period slots. If you have a larger group and need a shorter 'taster' session, just let us know!

What materials do we need to provide?

We take care of everything! Graffitifun provides professional spray paint in a huge variety of colours, protective gear (masks, gloves, suits), and the painting surface (either mobile wooden walls or individual canvases). We also bring sketches and design materials to help the students brainstorm. The only thing we need from the school is a suitable outdoor or well-ventilated indoor space. If you don't have one, we can help find a local spot!

Do the students need any prior art experience?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for all skill levels, from complete beginners to budding young artists. Our Vantaa-based instructors excel at breaking down complex techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on the 'fun' in Graffitifun, ensuring that every student, regardless of their artistic background, walks away with a piece of work they are genuinely proud of and a boost in creative confidence.

What is the maximum group size for a school event?

For school groups in Vantaa, we generally recommend a minimum of 10 students and can accommodate large groups of up to 60 or more by bringing in additional professional artists. We maintain a high artist-to-student ratio to ensure everyone gets personal guidance. If you have a particularly large year group, we can split the day into multiple rotating sessions so everyone gets a turn at the wall.

How does the payment and booking process work?

We offer total flexibility with a 'pay after the workshop' policy. You don't need to worry about upfront payments or deposits to secure your date in Vantaa. Once the workshop is completed and you're 100% satisfied with the experience, we'll handle the invoicing. This makes the administrative process much easier for schools and educational departments. Plus, we have backup artists ready to go, so the event never gets cancelled!

The experience

Why choose a Graffitifun workshop for your Vantaa secondary school? It’s not just about making a mess—it’s about building skills and confidence! 🔥

Total Artistic Freedom: Students get a break from the books to express themselves in a way that feels 'cool' and relevant to their world. 🎤
Inclusive Environment: Graffiti is a great equaliser; students who struggle with traditional academics often shine when they have a spray can in hand. 🏆
Professional Mentorship: Our artists aren't just talented; they are great communicators who know how to engage and inspire teenagers. 🤝
Zero Physical Waste: We leave nothing behind but great memories (and maybe a stunning mural if that's the plan!). 🌍
Worry-Free Planning: With our 'no cancellation' guarantee and backup artists, your school event is in safe hands. 💪
Team Spirit: Collective mural projects teach students how to collaborate and respect each other's space and style. ✨

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and a vital safety briefing on how to use the equipment properly.
Concept Brainstorming: Students work together or individually to sketch out ideas, focusing on letter structure, 'tags', and colour combinations.
Can control basics: Our pros demonstrate the 'first lines'—teaching students how to hold the can, control pressure, and create different effects.
The Outline: It's time to hit the wall! Students start by sketching their design in a light colour to get the proportions right.
Fill-in & Style: This is where the magic happens. Students add vibrant colours, gradients, and 'patterns' to fill their piece.
The Power Line: We teach how to add a sharp 'outline' and '3D shadows' to make the artwork pop off the surface.
Fine Detailing: Using specialized caps, students add highlights, shines, and small details to perfect their masterpiece.
Group Photo & Review: We wrap up by admiring the collective work, taking photos for the school social media, and chatting about what we learned.

Local culture

Vantaa is far more than just the home of the airport; it's a city that has embraced the raw energy of urban art. From the iconic murals in Myyrmäki to the legal walls that dot the landscape, Vantaa provides the perfect atmosphere for students to explore street culture. The city's industrial heritage combined with its modern, multicultural vibe makes it a fertile ground for young artists to find their voice. 🇫🇮

Fun Fact: Vantaa's Myyrmäki railway station is one of the most colourful in Finland, completely covered in stunning professional street art. It serves as a daily inspiration for the local youth and a testament to how graffiti can transform public spaces! 🚉✨

Our workshops celebrate this local spirit, teaching students that art doesn't just belong in a gallery—it belongs to the people and the streets of Vantaa.
