Is the graffiti workshop safe for individuals with special needs?

Absolutely! Safety is our number one priority. We use low-odour, high-quality spray paints and provide all necessary protective gear, including masks and gloves. Our instructors are experienced in working with diverse needs and maintain a constant watchful eye to ensure everyone stays safe while having a blast. We adapt our teaching style to match the physical and sensory requirements of every participant.

How do you handle sensory sensitivities during the session?

While we do use spray cans, we are very mindful of sensory sensitivities. We can host workshops in open-air spaces to reduce noise and smell, or use alternative tools like paint markers and stencils if the sound of the cans is too much. Just let us know about any specific triggers beforehand, and we will tailor the environment to be as comfortable as possible.

Do participants need to have any prior art skills?

No artistic experience is needed at all! Our professional artists specialize in breaking down complex techniques into simple, manageable steps. We focus on the process and the joy of creation rather than technical perfection. Whether someone wants to paint a full mural or just experiment with different colours, we are here to support their individual journey.

Where in Shah Alam can these workshops take place?

We are incredibly flexible with locations! We can host the event at your facility in Shah Alam, a local community centre, or suggest one of our outdoor partner spots. Our team brings all the equipment, floor coverings, and materials needed to set up a pop-up studio almost anywhere that has good ventilation and enough space for the group.

How long does a typical special needs workshop last?

A standard session usually lasts between 1.5 to 2 hours. This timeframe is often the 'sweet spot' for maintaining engagement without causing fatigue. However, we are happy to shorten or extend the duration based on your group's specific energy levels and attention spans. We work at your pace, ensuring no one feels rushed or overwhelmed.

How do we book a session and what are the payment terms?

Booking is simple! You can use our online Cost Calculator for a quick estimate or send us a request via the contact form. We don't require upfront payments because we believe in the quality of our service. Once we've discussed your group's needs and confirmed the date and location, you're all set to go!

What equipment do you provide for the workshop?

We bring everything! This includes a wide range of spray paint colours, safety masks, gloves, aprons, and surfaces to paint on (like canvases or large boards). We also provide professional instructors who are passionate about inclusive art. All you need to bring is your enthusiasm and some clothes you don't mind getting a bit of paint on!

The experience

Choosing a creative activity for a special needs group requires care, and we’ve spent years perfecting our approach. Here is why our graffiti workshops in Shah Alam are a fantastic choice:

Sensory-friendly engagement: The visual impact and physical action of spraying offer a unique sensory experience that can be both calming and exciting. 🌈
Boosts motor skills: Using spray cans helps develop fine motor control and hand-eye coordination in a non-traditional, fun way.
Encourages self-expression: For those who find verbal communication challenging, graffiti provides a powerful visual outlet for their thoughts and feelings. 🎤
Complete accessibility: We adapt our setup—from table heights to nozzle types—to ensure everyone can participate fully.
No-risk booking: With no upfront payment required and backup artists ready to go, your event is in safe hands.
Expert guidance: Our artists aren't just talented painters; they are passionate mentors who know how to connect with diverse learners. 🏆

Step by step

Initial consultation: We chat with you to understand the specific needs, abilities, and interests of your group to tailor the experience perfectly.
Site selection: We choose a wheelchair-accessible and well-ventilated location in Shah Alam, whether it's your venue or one of our local spots.
Safety briefing: Our friendly artists introduce the gear, showing everyone how to use masks and gloves comfortably.
Tool introduction: We demonstrate how to hold the spray cans and practice basic nozzle control in a fun, low-pressure way.
Creative brainstorming: Participants choose their favourite colours and shapes, or we use custom stencils to help bring their ideas to life easily.
The painting phase: The best part! Everyone gets to spray, layer, and create their own vibrant masterpiece on canvas or a shared wall.
Individual guidance: Our patient instructors provide one-on-one support throughout, ensuring every artist feels successful.
Grand reveal: We take a moment to celebrate the collective work, snap some photos, and admire the incredible talent on display.

Local culture

Shah Alam is a city that breathes culture and education, making it the perfect backdrop for an inclusive art program. Known for the stunning Blue Mosque and its lush parks, the city also has a growing appreciation for the "Laman Seni" street art initiatives. We draw inspiration from the local murals found in Section 7 and Section 2, bringing that same energy to our specialized workshops. We love the laid-back, community-focused vibe of Shah Alam, which allows us to create a calm yet stimulating environment for our participants.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia? Its organized layout makes it one of the most accessible cities for transport and logistics, which is a huge plus when we bring our mobile graffiti kits to your doorstep! 🎨
