Do I need to be an artist already to take this training?

Absolutely no prior experience is needed! Our Lugano training is designed to take you from a complete beginner to a confident graffiti instructor. We start with the basics of can control, move through lettering and colour theory, and finish with advanced mural techniques. Our professional artists guide you every step of the way, ensuring you feel comfortable and inspired to teach these skills to your own students back at school.

What safety measures do you provide during the workshop?

Safety is our absolute priority. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and provide high-quality FFP3 masks and protective gloves for all participants. During the workshop, we cover site safety, ventilation requirements, and how to manage a classroom full of students with spray cans safely. You will leave the session with a full safety protocol that you can implement immediately in your educational setting in Lugano.

How long does the teacher training session last?

The training typically lasts between 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on the specific goals of your group. We can also organise full-day intensives if you want to dive deeper into mural production or curriculum integration. We are very flexible and can host the session at a variety of inspiring spots around Lugano or even come to your school if you have a suitable outdoor space.

What materials are included in the training package?

We provide everything you need to get creative! This includes premium spray paint in a huge variety of colours, various caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear (suits, masks, gloves), and practice surfaces. We also provide digital resources and a physical guide on graffiti history and techniques to help you structure your future lessons. You just need to show up in clothes you don't mind getting a bit of paint on!

Will I receive a certificate after completing the course?

Yes, we do! Upon completion of the Professional Development session, every participant receives a Graffitifun certificate. This serves as proof of your newly acquired skills and your ability to lead graffiti-based art projects. It’s a great addition to your professional teaching portfolio and demonstrates your commitment to modern, engaging art education. Many teachers in the Ticino region find this very beneficial for their career growth.

What happens if we need to cancel or change our booking?

We understand that school budgets and schedules can be tricky. That’s why we offer a 'no upfront payment' policy—you only pay after the workshop is successfully completed. Additionally, we have backup artists on standby for every booking, ensuring that your professional development day in Lugano will never be cancelled due to staff illness. We aim to make the process as stress-free as possible for educators.

How does graffiti benefit my students compared to traditional art?

Graffiti is an incredible tool for reaching disengaged students or those who struggle with traditional fine art. It promotes spatial awareness, builds confidence through large-scale creation, and encourages collaboration. In our Lugano sessions, we specifically discuss how to link graffiti to themes like local history, typography, and social responsibility. It’s about giving you a fresh, 'cool' medium that resonates with the youth of today while meeting educational standards.

Step by step

Introduction to the culture: We start with a brief, high-energy dive into the history of street art and how it evolved into a global movement.
Gear and safety briefing: Learn about different spray cans, nozzle types (caps), and the essential safety protocols for a classroom environment.
Technique demonstration: Watch our pros demonstrate 'fading', 'outlining', and 'shading' techniques that you'll be mastering next.
Hands-on practice: Take the cans yourself! You'll start with basic shapes and lines on your own canvas or wall space to get a feel for the pressure.
Lettering and style: We help you develop your own 'tag' and 'throw-up' styles, focusing on flow, rhythm, and letter structure.
The Masterpiece: Work individually or as a team to create a large-scale mural, applying all the techniques you've learned during the session.
Curriculum integration: A dedicated sit-down session discussing how to translate these skills into lesson plans for your specific age groups.
Review and Certification: We wrap up with a group gallery walk and present your certificates of completion.

Local culture

Lugano isn't just about luxury watches and lakeside promenades; it’s a city with a pulse for modern creativity. From the street art tucked away in the Quartiere Maghetti to the vibrant murals near the university, the city is increasingly embracing urban expression. Our workshops often take place in inspiring locations that capture the unique blend of Swiss precision and Mediterranean flair that Lugano is famous for. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Ticino region has a long history of mural painting? While it used to be religious frescoes, today’s youth are carrying on that tradition through modern street art! By bringing graffiti training to your school, you're actually connecting your students to a contemporary version of local Lugano heritage. 🏁

Pricing

We offer flexible pricing to suit school budgets across Ticino. Our training sessions generally range from CHF 40 to CHF 85 per person, depending on the number of participants and the specific materials required for your project. 💰

The best part? At Graffitifun, we believe in building trust with educators. You don't have to pay anything upfront—payment is only required after the workshop is finished. Whether you want to visit us or have us come to your campus, we'll make it work!
