Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our teacher training is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are a stick-figure specialist or a seasoned painter, our professional artists will teach you the fundamental techniques of can control, scaling, and safety. The focus is on the pedagogical approach—how to teach these skills to your students—rather than your personal masterpiece. We provide a supportive environment where you can experiment freely without any pressure.

Is spray painting safe to do with students in a school setting?

We take safety very seriously. You will learn about the proper use of high-quality protective gear, including FFP3 masks and gloves. We also cover the importance of well-ventilated spaces and how to set up a safe 'spray zone' in a school environment. By the end of the session, you'll feel confident managing a group of students with spray cans while maintaining a clean and secure workspace.

Will we actually get to use spray cans during the session?

Yes, the training is highly practical. While we do cover the history and culture of street art, the majority of the session is hands-on. You will be using professional spray cans on canvases or temporary walls. This 'learning by doing' approach ensures you understand the physical challenges your students might face, allowing you to give better guidance and troubleshoot common mistakes like drips or shaky lines.

What materials are included in the professional development package?

We provide everything you need. This includes a wide variety of premium spray paint colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective clothing, masks, gloves, and surfaces to paint on. We also provide digital resources and lesson plan templates that you can take back to your classroom. You just need to wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a tiny bit of paint on!

How long does the training typically last?

Standard workshops for teachers usually last between 2 and 3 hours. However, we can customise the duration to fit your school's professional development schedule. We find that a 2.5-hour session is the sweet spot, allowing enough time for a deep dive into techniques, a full creative project, and a dedicated Q&A session about classroom integration and curriculum mapping.

Does the training cover the specific street art culture of Naples?

Naples has a unique and complex relationship with street art, from the historic 'spaccanapoli' tags to world-class murals by artists like Jorit. Our training includes a segment on local Napolitan street art history, helping you connect your lessons to the city's vibrant urban identity. This local context makes the art curriculum far more relatable and engaging for students living in or around Naples.

Can these techniques be used with other art mediums?

While we specialise in spray paint, the techniques we teach—such as stencilling, layering, and colour theory—are easily adaptable to markers, acrylics, or digital art. We'll show you how to scale the 'graffiti aesthetic' down for classroom projects that don't involve aerosols, ensuring you can bring the spirit of street art into your school regardless of the facilities available.

Local culture

Naples is a city where every wall tells a story, from ancient inscriptions to the massive, hyper-realistic murals of Jorit in San Giovanni a Teduccio. The city's narrow alleys and sprawling piazzas are a living museum of urban expression. Our training taps into this local energy, showing you how to use the 'Naples style'—a blend of social commentary and bold aesthetics—as a teaching tool.

Fun Fact: Naples is home to the only authenticated street piece by the world-famous Banksy in Italy—the 'Madonna with a Pistol' located in Piazza dei Girolamini. It’s the perfect local landmark to discuss with your students during a lesson on art history and modern icons! 🇮🇹
