Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our Art Teacher Training in Sillamae is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are a fine arts maestro or someone who hasn't picked up a spray can since school, our professional artists will guide you through the basics. We focus on teaching you the techniques and safety protocols so you can confidently pass those skills on to your students, regardless of your personal artistic background.

Is the spray paint safe to use in a school environment?

We take safety very seriously. All participants are provided with high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits to keep your clothes clean. We use low-pressure spray cans which are easier to control and produce less fumes. During the session, we’ll also cover how to set up a safe outdoor or well-ventilated indoor 'graffiti zone' at your own school or community centre in Estonia.

How long does the training session last?

Standard professional development sessions last between 2 to 3 hours. This timeframe allows us to cover the history of the movement, master basic can control, and complete a collaborative mural. However, we can also offer extended full-day intensives if your department wants to dive deeper into curriculum integration or advanced stencilling techniques. We are flexible and can work around your school's timetable.

What materials are included in the workshop?

The best part about our Sillamae workshops is that we provide everything! This includes a wide array of premium spray paint colours, various nozzles (caps), protective gear, and the surfaces we’ll be painting on. You just need to show up in comfortable shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a little dusty. We even handle the clean-up afterwards so you can focus on the art.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes, every educator who completes the Graffitifun training receives a certificate of participation. This document outlines the specific street art skills and safety procedures you've mastered. Many teachers in Sillamae and Narva use this as evidence for their professional development portfolios or to demonstrate their ability to lead specific extra-curricular art clubs and creative projects within their schools.

How does graffiti benefit my students' development?

Graffiti is a fantastic tool for reaching disengaged students or those who find traditional art history a bit dry. It teaches spatial awareness, teamwork, and confidence. Our training specifically addresses how to channel 'vandalism' into 'public art,' showing students that there are legal and constructive ways to express their identity. It’s an incredibly inclusive medium that levels the playing field for all types of learners.

How do I book a session for my department?

Booking is easy! You can use our online Cost Calculator to get an instant estimate for your group size in Sillamae. Once you're ready, send us a request through our contact form. We don't require any upfront payment—you can pay after the workshop. We also have backup artists available, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation ruining your scheduled training day.

The experience

Why choose Graffitifun for your professional development in Sillamae? Because we believe that when teachers have fun, students win! Here’s why our training stands out: 🔥

Hands-on Skill Building: Get messy and learn by doing—no boring lectures here!
Curriculum Ready: We provide practical tips on how to translate graffiti techniques into lesson plans that meet Estonian educational standards. 📚
Boost Student Engagement: Learn the "secret language" of your students to build better rapport through shared creative interests.
Professional Artist Mentors: Our trainers aren't just teachers; they are active street artists with years of mural experience.
Full Equipment Provided: We bring the entire studio to you, from top-tier paint brands to safety gear. 🏆
Zero Risk Booking: With our "no-show" backup artist guarantee and pay-later policy, your school's budget is always safe.

Step by step

Intro to street culture: We start with a brief, high-energy look at the evolution of graffiti from New York subways to the galleries of Europe.
Safety first: Suit up! We'll show you how to correctly fit masks and gear, and how to manage a group of students in a spray-painting environment.
Can control basics: Learn the 'anatomy' of a spray can, including how to swap caps for different line widths and how to manage pressure.
Lines and fades: Practice the foundational movements—creating clean outlines, soft gradients, and those iconic 'drips' (on purpose!).
The tag creator: Experiment with letter structures and developing a personal 'handstyle' that moves beyond simple handwriting.
Concept sketching: Move from the sketchbook to the wall, learning how to scale up designs using the 'doodle grid' or 'brick method.'
Collaborative mural: Work together on a large-scale piece, experiencing the teamwork dynamics your students will feel.
Educational integration: A final sit-down to discuss how to link these skills to the Estonian national curriculum and school projects.
Clean-up & Wrap-up: Review the results, snap some photos for your portfolio, and receive your training certification.

Creative collaboration during a graffiti company outing

Local culture

Sillamae is a city with a truly unique aesthetic—from its grand Stalinist architecture to its stunning coastal views. Bringing street art into this environment offers a fascinating contrast between the rigid lines of the past and the fluid, expressive energy of modern urban art. We love how the local creative scene is evolving, and there’s no better place to inspire the next generation of Estonian artists than right here between the "Cultural Stairs" and the sea. ✨

Fun Fact: Did you know that Sillamae was once a 'closed city' due to its industrial importance? Today, it’s opening up its walls (metaphorically and literally!) to new creative influences, making it the perfect backdrop for a street art revolution! 🏙️
