Is the graffiti workshop safe for school students?

Absolutely! At Graffitifun, safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, protective gloves, and overalls to all students. Our professional artists are trained to manage groups in a controlled environment, ensuring that the spray cans are used correctly and responsibly. We only use professional-grade paint in well-ventilated outdoor spaces, making it a perfectly safe and exciting educational environment for learners of all ages.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

Ideally, we recommend a duration of 2 to 2.5 hours. This gives students enough time to learn the basic techniques, practice their 'tagging' and 'throwing', and then collaborate on a final masterpiece. However, we are flexible! If you have a specific school timetable to stick to, we can condense the session into a 90-minute 'taster' or expand it into a full-day creative intensive.

Where do the workshops take place in Medellin?

We can host the workshop at a location of your choice in Medellin, such as your school playground or a nearby sports field. If your school doesn't have a suitable outdoor space, don't worry! We have access to several legal 'hall of fame' walls and creative hubs across the city where students can paint freely and legally. We'll handle all the logistics to find the perfect spot.

What is the minimum age for students to participate?

Our school workshops are generally designed for students aged 10 and up. At this age, they have the physical strength to operate the spray cans effectively and the focus to follow safety instructions. For younger primary school groups, we can adapt the workshop using water-based markers or stencils to ensure everyone can participate safely while still having a blast with street art culture.

Do the students need any prior drawing or art skills?

Not at all! Our workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional street artists guide the students through every single step, from holding the can to creating 3D effects. We often find that students who don't consider themselves 'traditionally' artistic actually thrive in graffiti because it is so physical, bold, and forgiving. It’s all about boosting confidence and trying something brand new!

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

We are prepared for anything! If the Medellin clouds decide to open up, we can often move the workshop to a covered outdoor area like a gym porch or a large gazebo. If no cover is available, we have a flexible cancellation and rescheduling policy. We also have backup artists available, so your event will never be cancelled from our side due to artist unavailability.

Can we choose a specific theme for the mural?

Yes, we love making the art relevant to your curriculum! Whether you want the students to paint a mural about environmental awareness, Colombian history, or school values like 'Respect' and 'Teamwork', we can plan the workshop around a specific theme. Just let us know your goals during the booking process, and our artists will help the students bring that vision to life.

Step by step

Introduction & Safety: We start with a high-energy intro to graffiti culture and a vital safety briefing on how to use the gear properly. 🛡️
The Art of the Tag: Students learn the basics of "tagging" — the foundation of all street art — to develop their own unique signature.
Can Control Practice: Our artists demonstrate different nozzle techniques so students can practice making thin lines, thick fades, and dots.
Sketching the Concept: Working in small teams, students sketch out their ideas on paper before moving to the big wall or canvas. 📝
Outline & Fill: This is where the magic happens! Students start spraying their main pieces, learning how to fill large areas with vibrant colours.
Adding Details: We teach professional tricks like "cuts" and "highlights" to make the artwork pop and give it that 3D look. ✨
The Masterpiece Reveal: The whole class steps back to admire their collaborative mural — a perfect photo opportunity for the school newsletter! 📸
Cleanup & Wrap-up: We ensure the site is left spotless and give a final shout-out to the most creative and hardworking students.

Local culture

Medellin is world-renowned for its incredible urban transformation, and street art has been at the very heart of that story. From the legendary murals of Comuna 13 to the trendy galleries of El Poblado, the city breathes creativity. Our workshops tap into this local spirit, showing students how graffiti can be a tool for social change and community pride rather than just "vandalism". 🎨

Fun Fact: Did you know Medellin hosts some of the biggest street art festivals in South America? By bringing a workshop to your school, you're connecting your students to a global art movement that defines modern Medellin! 🇨🇴

We love working with local schools to foster the next generation of "Paisa" artists, ensuring the city's colourful legacy continues to grow.
