Do we need any previous art experience to join the workshop?

Absolutely not! Our Machala university workshops are designed specifically for beginners. Our professional street artists will guide you through everything from holding the spray can correctly to mastering complex 'fades' and 'outlines'. Most students are surprised by how much they can achieve in just a couple of hours. We provide all the tips and tricks you need to create something you’ll be proud to show off on social media.

What should we wear to the graffiti session?

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting a little bit of paint on. While we provide high-quality protective overalls and gloves, graffiti can occasionally be a bit messy! Think old hoodies, jeans, and trainers. Since Machala can get quite warm, breathable fabrics are a plus. We take care of all the professional safety gear, including respiratory masks, so you can focus entirely on your masterpiece.

How long does a typical university graffiti workshop last?

Standard university sessions usually run between 2 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a safety induction, practice sessions on plastic film, and then the final creation of your large-scale mural or individual canvases. If you have a specific schedule or a tighter gap between lectures, we can customise the timing to fit your group's needs perfectly.

Where in Machala do the workshops take place?

We are fully mobile! We can bring the workshop directly to your campus in Machala, set up in a local park, or host you at one of our partner creative spaces. On-campus workshops are popular as they transform familiar university grounds into a temporary art gallery. We use special mobile walls or eco-friendly 'cellograff' (industrial cling film stretched between pillars) to ensure we leave no permanent marks on university property.

Is the spray paint safe to use?

Safety is our top priority. We provide professional-grade FFP2 or FFP3 respiratory masks, nitrile gloves, and protective suits. We only use high-quality spray paint brands that comply with safety standards. Our artists are trained in site safety and will ensure the workshop area is well-ventilated. We also perform a safety briefing at the start of every session to ensure everyone handles the equipment responsibly.

Can you accommodate large student groups or societies?

We certainly do! If you’ve got a large student society, a faculty-wide event, or an orientation week project, we can scale up to accommodate dozens of participants at once. For very large groups, we bring in extra professional artists to maintain a high level of individual coaching. It’s a fantastic way to build community spirit and create a massive, collaborative piece of art that represents your university year.

Local culture

Machala, known globally as the 'Banana Capital of the World', isn't just about agriculture; it’s a city with a growing pulse for urban expression. From the colourful displays near the Paseo Shopping to the hidden gems in the surrounding districts, street art is beginning to tell the modern story of the El Oro province. Our workshops tap into this local energy, encouraging students from institutions like the Universidad Técnica de Machala to add their unique voices to the city's visual landscape.

Fun Fact: Did you know that Machala hosts an annual World Banana Fair? While the city celebrates its yellow gold, we love bringing a full rainbow of spray paint colours to the local student community! 🎨
