  2. Health and safety: Every student is fitted with protective gear, including masks and gloves, followed by a safety demonstration.
  3. Sketching ideas: The children brainstorm designs on paper, focusing on a central theme chosen by the teacher or the group.
  4. Can control: Artists demonstrate basic techniques like 'lining', 'filling', and 'fading' to build confidence.
  5. Practice session: Students get a feel for the spray cans on a practice area to understand pressure and distance.
  6. The big piece: The whole class works together to create a large-scale mural, applying their new skills to the collective artwork.
  7. Detailing: Our professional artists help the kids add those final 'pops' of highlights and outlines to make the work shine.

Frequently asked questions

Is the graffiti workshop safe for primary school children?

Safety is our absolute priority for primary school groups in Bern. We provide all participants with high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls. Our spray paints are water-based or low-solvent where possible, and we always conduct sessions in well-ventilated outdoor areas or legal graffiti zones. Our professional instructors are experienced in supervising younger children, ensuring a fun environment that is completely safe and controlled from start to finish.

Do the children need to have prior drawing or art experience?

No prior artistic skill is needed at all! Our workshops are designed to be inclusive and encouraging for children of all ability levels. We guide the students through simple techniques, from holding the can correctly to filling in shapes. It is amazing to see how quickly even the most hesitant child gains confidence once they see their vibrant colours on the wall. Every child leaves feeling like a successful artist.

What is the minimum and maximum group size?

Ideally, we recommend a minimum of 10 students for a school booking, but we can accommodate much larger groups by bringing in additional professional artists. For very large year groups in Bern, we often split the students into rotating teams to ensure everyone gets plenty of hands-on spraying time and personal attention from our instructors. We have a deep bench of backup artists to ensure your event never gets cancelled.

How long does a typical school workshop last?

Standard primary school workshops usually last between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This timeframe is perfect for maintaining the children's focus and energy levels. We start with a brief introduction and safety demo, move into sketching and practice, and spend the final hour creating the main masterpiece. We can also adapt the duration to fit exactly within your school's timetable or a specific afternoon excursion slot.

What happens if it rains on the day of the workshop?

Weather in Bern can be unpredictable, but we have you covered. We can often use sheltered outdoor locations or, if the school has a suitable indoor space like a well-ventilated garage or gym hall (using floor protection), we can move there. However, we also offer the flexibility to reschedule if the weather is truly miserable. Because we don't require upfront payment, you have extra peace of mind and flexibility.

Are all materials included in the price?}],h1:

We provide everything needed for a successful street art day. This includes a wide variety of professional spray cans in bright colours, protective clothing (overalls, gloves, and masks), and even the 'canvas' (which can be a temporary wooden wall, large sheets, or a legal graffiti wall in the city). Your school just needs to provide the excited students and a location, though we can also help suggest legal spots around Bern.
