How it works

  1. Introduction & History: We kick off with a brief, high-energy look at the evolution of street art from NYC subways to Lausanne’s urban galleries.
  2. Gear Up & Safety: Learn the essential safety protocols and get fitted with professional masks and protective gear.
  3. Can Control 101: Master the basic movements, including lines, dots, and how to control pressure for different effects.
  4. Lettering & Flow: Dive into the world of 'tags' and 'throw-ups', focusing on the anatomy of graffiti letters.
  5. Stencilling Techniques: Learn how to teach students to create crisp, layered designs using modern stencilling methods.
  6. The Concept Phase: Work together to sketch out a collaborative mural that reflects your school’s values or a specific theme.
  7. Main Production: Put your skills to the test on a large scale, applying all the techniques you've learned to a final piece.
  8. Shadowing & Coaching: Our artists provide tips on how to 'coach' a student through a difficult part of their painting.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need prior graffiti experience to join the training?

Absolutely not! Our Lausanne teacher training is designed for all skill levels. Whether you are a fine arts graduate or someone who hasn't picked up a spray can since secondary school, our professional artists will guide you through the basics. We focus on teaching you the techniques and safety protocols needed to lead your own student sessions with confidence and flair.

Is the spray paint safe for use in a school environment?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality respiratory masks, gloves, and protective suits for every participant. During the workshop in Lausanne, we also cover important classroom safety protocols, such as proper ventilation, skin protection, and the correct way to store aerosol cans. You'll leave the session knowing exactly how to keep your students safe and the school environment clean.

Are all materials included in the workshop price?

Yes! We provide all the necessary professional equipment, including a wide range of premium spray paint colours, caps (nozzles) for different effects, protective gear, and practice surfaces. We also provide digital resources and lesson plan templates that you can take back to your school. You just need to bring your enthusiasm and wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit of paint on!

How long does the professional development session last?

Our standard teacher development sessions in Lausanne typically last between 2 and 3 hours. This timeframe allows for a deep dive into history, hands-on technique practice, and a collaborative final project. If your school department has specific time constraints or wants a more intensive full-day masterclass, we can easily customise the duration to fit your professional development schedule.

Can the training take place at our own school in Lausanne?

We are very flexible when it comes to location. We can host the training at one of our dedicated street art spots in Lausanne, or our artists can come directly to your school's art department. If we come to you, we'll just need an outdoor space or a very well-ventilated indoor area with proper protection for the floors and walls.

Will I receive resources to help me teach this to my students?

Definitely. A major part of our training involves teaching you how to structure a graffiti module for different age groups. We provide advice on curriculum integration, time management for large classes, and how to encourage students who may feel intimidated by traditional art forms. You'll receive a 'teacher's toolkit' of ideas to keep your students engaged and inspired.

How much does the teacher training cost per person?

In Lausanne, our prices generally range from CHF40 to CHF85 per person. The final cost depends on the number of staff members participating and whether we are using our venue or yours. Because every school's needs are unique, we recommend requesting a custom quote so we can provide the best possible value for your professional development budget.
