How it works

  1. Introduction & Safety: Meet your pro artist and learn the golden rules of spraying safely.
  2. The Concept: Sketch out your ideas on paper, focusing on layouts and 'wildstyle' letters.
  3. Can Control: Master the 'nozzle' to create thin lines, fat drips, and smooth gradients.
  4. First Outlines: Transfer your sketch to the big canvas using light colours for a guide.
  5. Filling In: Time to go wild with colour! Fill your letters with vibrant fades and patterns.
  6. 3D & Shadows: Learn how to make your art pop off the wall with depth and shadow effects.
  7. The Final Outline: Crisp up your work with a final dark outline to make it look professional.
  8. Highlights & Details: Add those 'shines' and 'bubbles' that give street art its unique character.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need any previous art experience to participate?

Absolutely! Most university students who join our workshops in Lubumbashi have never held a spray can before. Our professional artists break down the process into simple, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to more complex techniques like shading and 3D effects. You'll be surprised at how much you can achieve in just a few hours with the right guidance. Our goal is to make everyone feel like a confident artist!

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need for a successful session. This includes high-quality spray cans in a wide range of vibrant colours, caps/nozzles for different line widths, protective overalls, gloves, and high-standard masks. We also provide the canvases or boards that you'll be painting on. All you need to bring is your student ID, comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a bit of dust on, and plenty of creative energy!

Is the spray paint safe to use on campus?

Safety is our number one priority. We use low-odour, professional-grade spray paint and provide high-quality respiratory masks to every participant. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor spaces or large indoor halls that meet safety requirements. Our instructors also give a comprehensive safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring that everyone knows how to handle the equipment properly and respect their fellow artists' space.

How long does a typical university session last?

We are extremely flexible! A typical university workshop in Lubumbashi lasts between 1.5 and 3 hours. However, we can adapt this to fit into your lecture schedule or event timeline. If you're planning a massive campus festival, we can even run 'drop-in' style sessions throughout the day. Just let us know your requirements, and we will tailor the timing to ensure your student group gets the best possible experience.

Do you offer workshops in other cities in DR Congo?

Yes, we do! While we love hosting students in Lubumbashi, we also travel to other major Congolese cities. If you have friends or student unions in Kinshasa, Mbuji-Mayi, Kananga, or Kisangani looking for a creative outlet, we can definitely make that happen. No matter where you are in the DR Congo, Graffitifun is dedicated to bringing the world of street art to your local campus or community space.

What is your payment policy for university groups?

One of the best things about Graffitifun is our 'Peace of Mind' policy. You don't need to pay anything upfront when you book. We believe in the quality of our workshops so much that you only pay after the event is successfully completed. This makes it much easier for university societies or student unions to manage their budgets and approvals without the stress of immediate financial commitment. It’s all about trust and fun!

What happens if it rains on the day of the event?

Actually, the rain doesn't have to stop the fun! While we prefer the bright Lubumbashi sun, we always have a backup plan. If the weather looks dodgy, we can move the workshop to a covered outdoor area or an indoor space with proper ventilation. Plus, we have backup artists on standby for every booking, so even if your primary instructor is unwell, your university event will still go ahead exactly as planned. We never cancel!
