What is the difference between vandalism and street art?

Graffiti vandalism is unauthorized tagging on property without permission, often causing cleanup costs for the city. Our anti-vandalism program in Halifax focuses on 'legal' graffiti—creative expression in designated areas with proper techniques. We teach participants that street art is about respect for the environment and the community, redirecting that energy into positive, beautiful murals that everyone can enjoy.

Do I need to be an artist to participate?

Absolutely! No prior artistic talent is needed to join our Halifax workshops. Our professional instructors break down the process into simple, manageable steps. We start with basic lines and shapes before moving on to more complex designs. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you can create a professional-looking piece of art with just a little bit of guidance and the right tools.

Is the workshop safe for younger participants?

Safety is our top priority. We provide high-quality protective gear, including masks, gloves, and overalls to keep your clothes clean and your lungs safe. Our workshops are held in well-ventilated outdoor spaces or properly equipped indoor studios. Our artists are trained to supervise groups safely, ensuring everyone handles the spray cans correctly while having a blast.

What kind of materials are provided during the session?

We use specialized high-pressure and low-pressure spray cans designed for street art, along with various 'caps' or nozzles that control the spray width. We also provide protective suits, breathing masks, gloves, and high-quality canvases or designated wall space. Everything you need to transform from a beginner to a street artist is included in the session price!

How long does a typical workshop last?

Our standard anti-vandalism workshops in Halifax typically run between 1.5 and 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a safety demo, practice sessions, and the final creation of your masterpiece. If you have a larger group or a specific event timeline, we can always customize the duration to fit your schedule perfectly.

What happens if it rains on the day of our workshop?

Halifax weather can be unpredictable! For outdoor sessions, we always have a backup plan. If rain is in the forecast, we can often move to a covered outdoor area or an indoor location. We also have a large team of backup artists available, so you never have to worry about a last-minute cancellation from our end. We make sure the fun happens rain or shine!

Do I need to pay upfront for the booking?

We offer total flexibility with our 'pay after the workshop' policy. You don't need to worry about upfront deposits or hidden fees. Once the session is complete and you’re 100% satisfied with the experience, we handle the payment. It’s all part of our commitment to making sure you have a stress-free, creative, and totally fun day in Halifax.
