Do I need to be good at drawing to join?

No artistic talent is required! Our Halifax graffiti workshops are designed for absolute beginners. Our professional artists will guide you through every step, from holding the spray can correctly to mastering basic fading and outlining techniques. You’ll be amazed at what you can create in just a couple of hours with the right guidance and a bit of Atlantic inspiration.

What materials are included in the workshop?

We provide everything you need for a complete street art experience. This includes high-quality spray paint in a variety of vibrant colours, protective gloves, masks, and coveralls to keep your clothes clean. We also provide the canvas or surface you'll be painting on. Just bring your enthusiasm and wear comfortable shoes that you don't mind getting a little dusty!

Is spraying graffiti safe?

Safety is our top priority at Graffitifun. We use high-quality low-pressure spray cans that are easier to control and provide professional-grade protective masks and gloves for all participants. Our instructors are experienced professionals who provide a full safety briefing before anyone touches a can, ensuring a fun and secure environment for everyone from kids to adults.

What should I wear to the workshop?

While we provide protective coveralls, we always recommend wearing "paint-friendly" clothes. Spray paint is permanent and can occasionally find its way onto shoes or sleeves. Think comfortable, casual outdoor wear that you aren't precious about. Halifax weather can change quickly, so if we are outdoors, dressing in layers is always a smart move!

How long does a typical workshop last?

Our standard workshops typically last between 1.5 to 3 hours. This gives us enough time for a brief history of street art, a demonstration of techniques, individual practice, and the creation of your final masterpiece. If you have a specific time constraint for a corporate event or party, let us know and we can tailor the duration to fit your schedule.

Can you host a workshop at my location?

Absolutely! While we love hosting groups at our partner locations, we are fully mobile. If you have a suitable outdoor space or a well-ventilated indoor area in Halifax, we can bring the entire graffiti experience to you. This is a popular option for school programs, backyard birthday parties, and corporate team-building events across the HRM.

How far in advance should I book?

We suggest booking at least 2-4 weeks in advance, especially for weekend slots which fill up fast. However, we have a large team and backup artists available, so we can often accommodate last-minute requests. If you've got a sudden urge to get creative, reach out and we'll do our best to make it happen!

Local culture

Halifax has a deep-rooted love for public art, from the historic waterfront vibes to the edgy, creative spirit of the North End. Our workshops tap into this local energy, celebrating the city's transition from traditional maritime roots to a modern, artistic hub. We often draw inspiration from the Atlantic landscape, mixing classic wildstyle techniques with East Coast motifs.

Fun fact: Halifax is home to some of the most impressive legal graffiti walls in Atlantic Canada, helping keep the city vibrant and supporting local artists year-round! 🌊
