Step by step

  1. The warm-up: We start with a high-energy intro about the history of street art and the importance of legal painting zones in Ghana.
  2. Design session: Participants grab paper and markers to sketch their ideas, focusing on positive community themes.
  3. Safety first: Everyone gets geared up in protective suits, masks, and gloves while learning the Golden Rules of spray can safety.
  4. Nozzle knowledge: Our artists demonstrate different 'caps' and how they change the paint flow from thin lines to fat flares.
  5. Technique practice: You'll start by practicing basic movements on a practice wall to get a feel for the pressure and distance.
  6. The big fill: It’s time to head to the main mural! Participants work together to fill in the large blocks of colour.
  7. Mastering the outline: This is where the magic happens—adding the sharp edges that make the artwork pop.
  8. Highlights and details: We add those final 3D effects, 'shines', and 'bits' to give the piece a professional finish.
  9. Photo finish & wrap-up: We take a group photo with the masterpiece and discuss the positive impact of legal art over vandalism.

Local culture

Street art in Takoradi

Takoradi, often called 'Tadi', is a city known for its rhythmic soul—from the legendary Masquerade Festival to the bustling vibes of Market Circle. Street art here isn't just about paint; it's about the heartbeat of the Western Region. By bringing our workshops to the streets of Takoradi, we tap into that local 'Tadi' pride, encouraging youth to contribute to their city’s visual landscape responsibly.

Fun Fact: Did you know Takoradi is home to the famous Fancy Dress Festival (Masquerade)? The vibrant costumes and masks are a huge inspiration for our graffiti workshops, where we often blend traditional Ghanaian patterns with modern street art styles!
